RockWave

In the roof of this house was the first “office” of RockWave. But you won’t find me there anymore, perched in front of some wonky artwork and photo frames. Back in early 2020, before our official launch, RockWave was just an idea - a name, a few logo sketches, and a strong belief that we could build something lasting in the #seismic industry. The house was small, and I had to climb a ladder to get to work. But that at least kept me separate from the noise of three kids below. It worked for me. Last week, our family moved into a new home, marking the end of an era. Though we are excited, it was difficult saying goodbye to 44. This was where RockWave began, where the dream took shape and grew into something to be truly proud of. Thanks, old house. It’s all over. End of the party. Empty beer cans and half eaten crisp packets litter the now empty fields. Football has not come home. And we must get back to work (that seismic isn’t going to make itself look fantastic!) Thus, in this aftermath, we have some #RockWaveSWEEP awards to dish out. First, the Top Scorer award. Despite the official golden boot being shared between 6 players (presume Kane will keep it, then post it to Olmo, and so on), we make the rules in this competition and assists also count. In which case, the winner is Alexander Smith with Cody Gakpo. Lastly, the overall winner. We suppose John Seabourn's Spain winning was as inevitable as seismic vessels getting wet, but England did Emil Kousted Mauritzen proud, by at least giving him a moment to cheer, before hopes and dreams were crushed once again as Spain regained control and scored the winning goal. We will contact all winners shortly to arrange delivery of prizes. Thank you all for your participation, and if you prefer seismic to football, then why have you read this far? With 60 years of hurt now officially sealed, we march on to #WorldCup2026 in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Nick Woodburn and #EltonJohn have some things in common. They both like playing piano (though Elton is better). They both wear glasses (though Elton’s are cooler). They both need to slap on the FACTOR 50 during the hot summer days (probably in equal measure). But… Nick being famous for his geophysics rather than belting out songs on stages, has married his hobby with his profession, to link the octaves on a piano with the seismic bandwidths seen in O&G and Renewable Energy. We bet Elton has never made this connection! Since we established RockWave in April 2020, we have attracted some of the most talented people in seismic processing to come and join the team. Our major source of talent has been from within major seismic services providers in the oil and gas industry, where we also learnt our trade. Processing shallow seismic data is just as challenging, as fascinating and as darn right frustrating at times, as with processing deep exploration data. And if you’re doing it so that the world can install more renewable energy resources, some might find it more rewarding. You might think you’re a “Rocket Man” in conventional O&G, but you’ll very quickly feel like a “Tiny Dancer” in the ultra-high frequency world of renewables. 👇Read THIS article to prepare yourself for the transition👇 #UHRS #SeismicProcessing

#Turkey's narrow 2-1 victory over #Czechia will go down in the record books as the most booked fixture in EUROs history. The referree handed out a record-breaking 18 yellow cards on Thursday and two red cards. Some of them handed to people not even on the pitch! Fredrik Amundsen has this game alone to thank for skyrocketing his Turkish national side to the top of the “cards received” table with 16 cards. He is lucky that red cards were not given greater weighting in the DIRTIEST TEAM competition, as Czechia (Babar Hasan Khan) were a close second with 15 total cards (2 of them were red, received in the same match!) As for the WORST TEAM award. The writing was on the wall for #Scotland (Benjamin Bellwald) at halftime in their game against #Hungary, at which point it was 0-0 and the BBC could not find any highlights to broadcast after there had only been 7 touches inside the box and 5 shots in total (all from Hungary). Thanks to these results, we shall be arranging delivery of some prizes: 🎉A reversable (half bear, half ball) cuddly toy will be heading to Benjamin Bellwald. May it bring him some comfort. 🎉Fredrik Amundsen gets a Euro2024 ball. May it bring him some football skills. But now the real competition begins… knockout football… The lineup has pitted some former colleagues against one another and RockWave vs geophysics education. A football fanatic 1 year old (can’t you tell from his Erling Haaland hairstyle?), and part time independent draw specialist, has just pulled names out of an official UEFA bucket hat to decide entrants to the RockWave EURO24 seismic #SWEEPSTAKE. It’s a real good mix of names from all sorts of seismic-related companies, competing for one thing… a cuddly toy. OK, there are a few more prizes, including footballs and rare RockWave insulated bottles.
