Last week, the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (AELTC) announced that, after 147 years, it would no longer employ Line Judges during the #Wimbledon tournament. Of the decision the AELTC stated; "We consider the technology to be sufficiently robust and the time is right to take this important step in seeking maximum accuracy in our officiating.” This has understandably been met with some negativity from across the sport. Roke engineers invented Hawk-Eye in 2001 to help improve ball-tracking accuracy in sports like #Tennis and #Cricket, but it was designed to augment match officials, not replace them.
