Collaboration in the face of rising costs… There’s no doubt about it, the construction industry in the UK is grappling with rising costs due to inflation, wider economic pressures of the new government, and labour shortages. According to the latest construction forecast data from BCIS, building costs will increase by 15% over the next five years, while tender prices will rise by 20% over the same period. Meanwhile, the workforce is 88% what it was before the pandemic. What does this mean for our industry moving forward? For BANSCO, it’s all about greater industry collaboration. We highly encourage more alliance between contractors and quantity surveyors, suppliers, and architects to streamline production, address labour shortages, and minimise economic threats.
