🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Rosetrees Trust and Race Against Dementia have teamed up to launch a ground-breaking £4.2M programme aimed at driving out dementia. 🏎 One of the six innovative projects supported by this initiative is a collaborative effort between Professor Gandhi and Professor Swanton (The Francis Crick Institute, UCL). Project will use cutting-edge technologies to explore how air pollution contributes to brain inflammation—a key factor in the development of dementia. 🌍🧠 Pushing the boundaries of science, this multidisciplinary research could unlock critical insights into potential environmental triggers of this devastating disease. #DementiaResearch #Innovation #AirPollution #BrainHealth #raceagainstdementia Click the link to read more about the Race Against Dementia Teams award: https://lnkd.in/eddr5eyX https://t.co/WF2hfxkUQQ

Non-profit Organizations
Private UK charity supporting cutting-edge medical research by helping brilliant minds discover healthcare solutions
About us
Rosetrees has been supporting cutting edge medical research for more than 30 years, with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of society. We have supported thousands of projects are supported, from seedcorn 'out of the box' research ideas to large awards, many with co-funders. The focus is on testing new ideas across the spectrum of medical research to bring the earliest patient benefit. The Rosetrees story began in 1987, when Nat and Teresa Rosenbaum celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary by establishing Rosetrees as a charity to give back to society. They started with nothing and then built a successful business with hard work, intelligence and the ability to think laterally. Initially, the focus was on social and elderly causes. However, a request in 1990 to fund an approach to cancer of targeted chemotherapy was the catalyst for Rosetrees to focus on early support for cutting edge medical research. It was in keeping with the founders' venture philanthropy philosophy of providing seedcorn support for the best new ideas. Rosetrees has since expanded from a grant-giving charity that helps scientists test new ideas that may lead to new treatments in the future, to one that also funds translational research into areas that may soon deliver earlier clinical benefits in areas such as cancer, heart disease, strokes and diabetes. Today, Rosetrees is headed by Nat and Teresa’s son, Richard Ross, who was awarded the Spear’s Philanthropist of the Year Award in 2011 and a CBE in the 2021 Queen's New Year's Honours List. Richard has applied his father's lateral thinking approach to allow many early scientific ideas to evolve. He is supported by a small, highly skilled team and advised by experts in all areas of research. Together, they are committed to finding, funding and following the best medical ideas, advised by some of the UK's leading scientists.

We are delighted to support the appointment of Professor Gustavo Sudre as the new Rosetrees Pears Chair in Bioinformatics at the Pears Maudsley Centre! @Rosetrees is proud to champion the cutting-edge research at this centre, advancing ground-breaking research in mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions affecting children and young people.
I am thrilled to today begin working as Director of @the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People, returning to South London where I began my professional career. After spending the past two decades in the States, the timing feels right to take on this new role, putting the mental health of children and their families at the centre of our work. I look forward to working with the exceptional researchers at @King’s College London’s IoPPN and superb clinicians at @South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust as we continue the development of this exciting partnership. One of the biggest barriers to getting research to be more clinically informed is the physical separation of teams. With the co-location of clinical and academic teams in the Pears Maudsley Centre we hope to evolve the strong tradition of King’s and the Trust working together. We want research to be informed by clinical care, and similarly clinical care to be enriched by research. The Centre will house the only bespoke Clinical Research Facility for mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions in Children and Young People in the country. This facility has a vast array of cutting-edge equipment, giving us safe, non-invasive ways of mapping the brain and behaviour in children in unparalleled depth. Insights from this work will drive new understanding and new interventions. I look forward to this incredible opportunity for collaboration, and importantly, engaging with the local community in South London as part of our work. I am not the only new member of the King’s Maudsley Partnership. I’m delighted that Professor @Gustavo Sudre, the Rosetrees Pears Chair in Bioinformatics, supported by @Rosetrees and @Pears Foundation, has also moved from the States to be part of KMP team. Professor @Emily Jones joins us from Birkbeck, UoL, bringing her vast expertise and insights into how early brain development shapes the emergence of cognitive and social skills. We look forward to welcoming many new members to the partnership in the coming months as well, with thanks to @Maudsley Charity, @The Rayne Foundation and many more key donors who have made this incredible centre and collaboration possible. I look forward to the work we will do together. #Partnership #Collaboration #Research #ChildrenAndYoungPeople #MentalHealth #PopulationHealth
