Insights into bone strength in egg-laying hens could support their health and welfare and inform decisions around breeding. A team of experts found that bones such as the tibia or humerus may be used as a guide to breastbone strength. They also identified a tell-tale shape in the keel bone which is linked to a higher incidence of damage, in a discovery that may support breeding selection. #PoultryScience #PoultryBreeding #PoultryFarming #AnimalBioscience #AnimalResearch https://edin.ac/3AnOPfQ
