Approximately 15% of the UK population is neurodivergent, meaning their brains function and process information differently 💡 We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. Our Neurodiversity & Disability Affinity Networks provide a safe space for sharing experiences and offering support. This week, we’re also hosting an Access to Work Scheme Talk, where Leonard Cheshire will be offering insights on workplace support and how to access it. Though often seen as a symbolic gesture and romanticised in films, balloon releases pose a serious threat to animals that we share our world with. Even those labeled as biodegradable can result in choking, entanglement, and can be fatal in many cases 💔 With just one week to go until Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean, it’s time to do our bit to keep nature thriving! Don’t miss your chance to get involved and make a difference: https://bit.ly/4hJY6yL

90% of pigs in the UK experience painful deaths as a result of carbon dioxide - the most commercially viable method of pig slaughter. We've lobbied for less distressing methods for years, but now we need you. Join us and Compassion in World Farming by emailing Defra: https://bit.ly/4kHFzW4

Have you heard that cultivated meat, dairy and sugar could be in our supermarkets within two years? Lots of the debate talks about the environmental and health benefits, but it could be a huge game changer for animal welfare. We spoke about this very subject on our Animal Futures podcast: https://bit.ly/3PX9nzN Read the full article: https://bit.ly/3Fhhkhn

Animal welfare updates you need to know 👇 1. Our Horse Sense Report was launched at the National Equine Forum, to an excellent reception. Human Behaviour Change for Life and their research partners from the University of Bristol and University College Dublin conducted the research which concluded that many horses in England and Wales are still suffering - often due to unintentional neglect: https://bit.ly/3QOBW2U This report will help us start a conversation with our stakeholders - governments, equestrian organisations, colleges, other animal welfare charities and horse keepers themselves, on how we can all be champions for equine welfare and secure a good life for horses. 2. We held an Act for Wildlife drop-in for MPs at Westminster along with Humane World for Animals. Over 40 MPs and Lords attended to hear about wildlife issues, such as the need to consolidate and update wildlife legislation, trail hunting and fur imports, which aids our ongoing lobbying work. 3. Our Animals in Science team hosted our fifth ‘Focus on Fish’ event for those involved with caring for, or using, fishes in the lab. This featured talks on husbandry, handling and enrichment for various fish species, providing practical tools for the scientific community to improve fish welfare. Events like this are crucial for driving positive change for lab animals as long as their use continues.

Happy as a pig in... Straw?! It might seem like a little thing, but it makes the world of difference to pigs! They love playing with it, foraging in it, and even snuggling up in it 🐽 Not only that, but it reduces boredom, stress and aggression. Sadly pigs on lower welfare farms have no straw to play in or sleep on, but our welfare standards insist that every pig on RSPCA Assured farms does.
