Daylight saving time ends on Sunday 27th October, the clocks will be rolling back 1hr at 2am. Employers should be aware of the impact the time change can have on on employees: Sleep disruption - The sudden change in time can disrupt sleep patterns, which can lead to fatigue and impact productivity and safety at work. Mental health - The change in circadian rhythm can lower mental health in the short term, and it can be difficult to recover from the long-term effects. Physical health - The end of daylight saving time can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes, especially in the first three weekdays after the change. Road accidents - The darker afternoons after the change can increase the risk of road crashes. Illness - The end of daylight saving time marks the start of winter, which can increase the risk of illnesses like the common cold and the flu. Read more about preparing for winter working -

Do you know how often your fire risk assessment should be reviewed? In the UK, regardless of the number employees you have the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 mandates that all non-domestic premises must have a fire risk assessment. This includes offices, shops, care homes, warehouses, factories, hospitals, schools, and common areas of multi-occupied residential buildings. The law requires that these assessments be “regularly reviewed.” However, the term “regularly reviewed” can be somewhat ambiguous, while there is no strict timeline specified, several factors can influence the frequency of these reviews. Find out more here....https://buff.ly/3A6PoKv 💡 Did you know that Safety Forward can complete your fire risk assessment? At Safety Forward our fire risk assessments approach is pragmatic. We do not sell fire-fighting equipment or alarm systems, so our assessment recommendations will be based solely on your safety and business needs, and not commercially based. Our qualified fire risk assessor will visit your site, look at your fire safety records and then undertake a site walk-around. Following this we will provide you with a professional fire risk assessment report and prioritised recommendations, where necessary, to improve your fire safety management. Contact us or visit https://buff.ly/45N3UTo to find out more.
