World Mental Health Day - 10 October 2024 Around half of work-related ill health is down to stress, depression or anxiety - those suffering with their mental health on average will 19.6 days off work a year So why prioritise good mental health and prevent work-related stress? 1) it’s the law 2) it’s good for business 3) it’s the right thing to do The law requires all employers to prevent work-related stress and support good mental health in the workplace. The HSE's Working Minds campaign can help advise how to manage mental health in the workplace. For further information visit https://lnkd.in/eNiEcMfa

Promoting mutual recognition between all SSIP member schemes
About us
The SSIP Forum will: Encourage and maximise mutual recognition between SSIP member schemes where it is practicable to do so. Operate a robust and consistent Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) agreement between SSIP member schemes that is clear and transparent. Provide confidence in first stage safety capability assessments by developing the SSIP core criteria and ensuring a consistent, reliable and quality-controlled standard of assessment via qualified, competent, assessors. Help and encourage buyers to recognise SSIP and its aims and objectives, and to specify and recognise SSIP member schemes in general, rather than a specific scheme provider. Help buyers and suppliers to achieve value for money through avoiding unnecessary duplication or differing Health & Safety assessment requirements, wherever possible. Demonstrate savings made to buyers and suppliers as a result of SSIP activity. Promote appropriate core criteria in non-construction works. Promote the work and value of SSIP. Actively encourage the standardisation of prequalification criteria including PAS 91, and other common industry standards.

HSE Asbestos Campaigns highlighting risks. Asbestos remains in millions of homes and buildings and can be dangerous when it's disturbed or damaged. The HSE are currently running 2 campaigns in relation to asbestos. 1) Asbestos and You. This campaign is aimed at tradespeople and highlighting the risks posed by asbestos. Every tradesperson is likely to undertake work in a building that contains asbestos at some point. Those carrying out repairs or refurbishment work are at a higher risk of disturbing asbestos, especially when working in houses built before the year 2000. For further information on this campaign please visit https://lnkd.in/e46sCEiw 2) Asbestos - Your duty This campaign raises awareness of the legal duty to manage asbestos in buildings. SSIP Frequently asked Questions: "I don't understand the levels offered by SSIP member schemes and what it means for me - I am only a small contractor" Some schemes offer extended products covering requirements of PAS91 or the Common Assessment Standard which are outside of health and safety. There is no need to upgrade to additional services if you only need a H&S assessment. If you require further information, please don't hesitate to contact us. #SSIP #healthandsafety #procurement #supplychains #proportionate
