About us
We are Saltire Thistle, Glasgow's Inclusive Football Club. Formed in 2010, the club was created to provide a safe space for members of the LGBTQI+ community to participate in football. Inclusivity is not just a buzzword. it’s an integral part of our identity. Many members join Saltire Thistle after a period of not being involved in sports, which can often be due to a lack of belonging. Saltire Thistle aims to create an environment where individuals can grow and become more comfortable with themselves, without changing who they are. On and off the park, we strive to create a welcoming, supportive and fun environment which creates impactful change including friendships and championing inclusivity in football. If you are interested in finding out more or joining the club, please don't hesitate to get in touch. At Saltire Thistle, inclusion and respect are at the heart of everything we do. This Wear Red Day, we're proud our members showed support for Show Racism the Red Card by wearing red at training this week. 🟥 As Glasgow’s inclusive football club, we believe sport should be a welcoming space for everyone, free from racism, homophobia, and discrimination of any kind. Together, we stand against racism and promote unity and equality in football. 💪🌍 Join us in playing your part by advocating for a better, more inclusive future across all sports. #WRD24 #ShowRacismTheRedCard LEAP Sports Scotland Show Racism the Red Card

Great work from our partners Waverley Care here. #GetToZero
Today, MSPs from across the political spectrum joined @WaverleyCare and @TerrenceHigginsTrust in taking rapid HIV tests outside the Scottish Parliament 💜 The event, sponsored by Gillian Mackay MSP, demonstrated how quick and simple HIV testing can be. It also served a bigger purpose: raising awareness about Scotland’s goal to end HIV transmission by 2030 and pushing for the introduction of a National HIV Testing Week. As Waverley Care’s Chief Executive, Grant Sugden, explains: “A National HIV Testing Week would not only make it easier for people to get tested but would also spark conversations about HIV and help reduce stigma." 🙌🏽 Together, we can normalise testing, make it more accessible, and ensure we are on the right path to reach zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
