This week is Corporate Parenting week week at Sandwell Council. There are hundreds of children in care in our borough and as corporate parents, we want to make sure that each and every young person has the support and love they deserve, as any parent would. We’ve had a great start to Corporate Parenting Week with over 300 colleagues joining our live event and Q&A session to find out more about what it means to be a corporate parent. Today senior leaders from across the council joined our chief executive Shokat Lal to attend a session aimed at raising awareness and outlining our approach to ensure that children in our care and care experienced young people have the best experience and outcomes. #WeAreSandwell #Family #Priorities

Sandwell Council are leading the work on renewing the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for West Bromwich Town Centre. This PSPO plays a huge role in keeping the area safe and pleasant for everyone, and we’re in the process of reviewing it to make sure it still meets the needs of the community. Your feedback is really important in making sure Sandwell MBC get this right and continue to keep the town centre safe and welcoming for everyone. 👉 Complete the survey here: https://lnkd.in/eVWYGY_X The survey is open until 15th September. Exciting news! The masterplan for the future of Wednesbury has been unveiled today. It will help us to shape the town’s development over the next 10 to 15 years. This masterplan is part of a programme of investment in Wednesbury under a partnership between Sandwell Council and the government. Some of the investment is being used to kick-start improvements in Wednesbury Town Centre. We’ve already installed new and upgraded CCTV cameras and work started earlier this month on public realm improvements. The programme will also help deliver much-needed new homes, improve green spaces and expand the Millennium Centre to provide a space so that more can be done to give people the skills they need to secure better jobs. The programme is overseen by the Wednesbury Levelling Up Partnership Board. ⬇ Watch the video from Alan Lunt Peter Hughes Maria Jardine to find out more about the masterplan which sets out our plans for Wednesbury. 👉 Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/eryY6g6c 👉 Visit the website: https://lnkd.in/eMhWDvAr #WeAreSandwell #Community #Innovation Shokat Lal

What a fantastic day! Well done to everyone involved 👏
Delighted and privileged to meet Adam Peaty, at the ‘Sprint with The Stars’ event being hosted at #Sandwell Aquatic Centre today. Adam is the english competitive swimmer who specialises in the breaststroke. He won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the first by a male British swimmer in 24 years, and retained the title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, the first British swimmer ever to retain an Olympic title. Sprint With The Stars is a revolutionary event where grassroots swimmers have the opportunity to race some of the world’s best. The competition is based solely on sprint racing – 50m on all strokes – where the fastest nine in each age group progress from the Heats to the Showcase Finals of the respective stroke. The centre lane in each final will be filled with one of the Stars, who chase down the pack following a handicap age-related head start. The finals are a 90-minute action packed flurry of racing, where athletes are introduced to the crowd with pyrotechnics and music, putting the spectator experience at the heart of the event. Well done and thank you to Emma, Jess and all the staff and volunteer team in supporting and setting up for this terrific event.
