Sano was founded in November 2020 by David Jones and Ross Shenton, who have a bold vision to revolutionise residential properties' design, construction, and management. Driven to create the world’s healthiest homes, Sano draws on Ross’s personal journey of overcoming health issues caused by mould exposure. The journey began in May 2021 when we filed the first patent applications for our innovative M-DOCK® hybrid building construction system. Since those early days, we've made significant strides, expanding our portfolio from a few initial patent filings to over 100 pending and granted patents today. Our patents cover various cutting-edge technologies, including modular and hybrid building systems, advanced construction techniques, building sensing innovations, and AI-driven control systems. We've secured patent applications in key regions such as the UK, the USA, and Europe. Though we're a small start-up, our focus on intellectual property is driving our growth and innovation. But it's not just about patents—our demonstrator house in Liverpool is complete and ready for visits. Additionally, we are seeking global manufacturing partners. For further details about partnering with us or visiting our demonstrator house, drop us a message at info@sano.co.uk

In this PBC article, Ross Shenton, our co-founder, shares why it's vital to focus on more than just the quantity of new homes to meet the UK's housing targets. Ross's insights stem from his personal experience—living in a mould-affected home over twenty years ago—which became a key motivation in founding Sano. Millions of UK homes still face issues like poor ventilation, mould, and dampness, which pose serious health risks. As Ross explains, energy-efficient, modern, airtight homes often trap moisture, leading to problems that can harm a home's structure and its occupants' health. Looking forward, Ross envisions a future where AI-driven systems help monitor and manage indoor air quality, keeping homes healthy without constant oversight. You can read the article in full to learn more about the two key ventilation strategies emerging from this.
