Head of Content at Open Banking Expo | Author 'Open Banking and Financial Inclusion' | Community manager, Women in Open Banking
🎙 A couple of months ago, I invited Pauline Nicol, payments partnerships manager, payments and Open Banking at Tesco Bank, and co-founder and director of the SAORSA MENOPAUSE CONSULTANCY onto the Open Banking Expo Unplugged podcast to discuss the menopause - more specifically, how workplaces can support their female employees experiencing menopausal symptoms. It's a special episode for our Women in Open Banking community and was inspired by meeting Pauline at an Awards ceremony, where her and Mo Caldwell's 'Hot at Tesco' initiative was recognised 🏆 The menopause was once a taboo subject and, while it is being talked about more openly, there are still a lot of myths and misunderstandings. So, Pauline busts some of those - particularly around the symptoms, both physical and psychological, and the age at which women go through the menopause. 🚺 She explains why it is vital that employers offer support and guidance to female employees going through the perimenopause and menopause. 📈 Menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the workplace, according to Pauline, but their symptoms can also be a reason many women leave the workforce. We get into that and also discuss how to ensure that conversations around the menopause in the workplace are inclusive. Pauline was delighted to be invited by Mastercard to attend the 48th AIG Women's Open and the Women's Sport Summit. The summit was fantastic with amazing speakers discussing various aspects of The Power of Building Communities in Women's Sport. She even managed to agitate the conversation in the room by asking the female golf legends panel of Annika Sorenstam, Dame Catriona Matthew and Dame Laura Davies how does menstrual health impact female athletes and what support do they get? That conversation was still happening in the room the following day! Saorsa wholeheartedly believe in the power of community for women during their perimenopausal and menopausal period of life. Women can so very often feel alone at this time due to lack of knowledge and support. It really doesn't have to be that way. If we can help your organisation to support your staff please get in touch. info@saorsamenopause.co.uk #Mastercard #AIGWomensOpen #SaorsaMenopause #menopauseintheworkplace #womenneedwomen #menopauseexpertsgroup #education #support #therightthingtodo #helpyourbottomline
Happy Friday! Pauline was thrilled to be invited by Ellie Duncan to participate in a special episode of the Women in Open Banking Unplugged podcast series, discussing how workplaces can assist individuals going through menopause, bustin' some myths and a wee bit about her journey through menopause. ARE YOU PERIMENOPAUSAL? We are looking for volunteers to participate in a research study about how our thoughts/views may influence our menopause experience. This research forms part of an MSc Psychological Sciences degree at Brunel University London and involves answering a survey regarding different aspects of menopause. All participants must be over 18 years old, perimenopausal and female at birth. Internet access and a working knowledge of English required to complete the survey (max. 10 minutes to complete). Due to the nature of the research, we kindly request that anyone who is pre-menopausal or post-menopausal refrain from participating. We also kindly ask anyone who is living with a medical condition or taking medications which may affect physiological or psychological aspects of menopause or anyone who recently experienced a major injury/surgery/life event which may influence psychological states to be excluded from participating. This study has been approved by the College of Health, Medicine and Life Science Research Ethics Committee and will take place between 5th August 2024 to 5th September 2024. Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary and confidential. You can withdraw at any point during the survey without having to give a reason. Data is collected anonymously and cannot be withdrawn after survey is submitted. We are sorry we can’t offer any payment or rewards! Still interested? All participants must: Over 18 years old, female at birth & perimenopausal. If your answer is ‘yes’ to the above questions and you would like to take part, please follow this link for more information https:https://lnkd.in/gmsjyXch If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact: Researcher: Lauren Nicol (2275736@brunel.ac.uk). We are incredibly proud to be working with Scottish Women's Aid delivering menopause awareness sessions to their individual groups. Scottish Women's Aid teams , comprised entirely of female employees, play a vital role in supporting vulnerable women and their children across Scotland. Understanding the impacts of menopause is essential not only for their own well-being but also for enhancing the empathy and care they provide to their service users. By equipping their staff with this knowledge, we are helping to ensure that they can continue to offer the highest level of support to those who need it most. We will also be supporting their service users and we are so appreciative that they have entrusted us to do this. Yesterday we delivered our "Let's Talk Menopause" workshop to the Inverclyde Women's Aid, a brilliant team that fully immersed themselves into the session. Afterwards we spent some time trying to understand some of the hugely important work that they do, it was an emotional and very humbling conversation.
