About us
Our ambition as the SARIA Group is to be the preferred partner for sustainable solutions. To this end, our subsidiaries offer a comprehensive range of products and services with which we create added value for our customers and suppliers. Our products are used in many sectors, from agriculture and animal feed to the food industry, from restaurants to the pharmaceutical sector. Sustainable fuels and new types of energy are also part of our portfolio. In addition, we provide important services around safe, fast and hygienic disposal of food waste, animal by-products and potential organic risk material. Across all our activities, we seek to contribute to conserving scarce natural resources. We collect animal by-products and organic residues that would otherwise be wasted and transform them into high-quality raw materials for new uses in other industries. Cooperation between our various business units ensures that seamless recycling chains are created in the interests of sustainability. In the UK the company has operations in edible food production (Nortech Foods), Food Distribution (T.Quality), Petfood ingredient manufacture (SARVAL), Renewable Energy Generation, Animal By-Product collection and processing (SecAnim) and the recycling of food wastes to generate renewable energy and organic fertilisers (ReFood) SARIA is the UK market leader in the processing of animal by-products & food waste, handling over 1 million tonnes per annum of raw material across 12 processing plants.

At the heart of our Fluids2Energy operations, our industry-leading fluidised bed combustion plant processes up to 1,000 tonnes of industrial residues per week – from effluent disposal to industrial liquids. The advanced technology means that high levels of ammonia, COD (chemical oxygen demand) and BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) concentrations can be easily disposed of at a fraction of the cost of more traditional methods. As part of the anaerobic digestion process, methane is released from food waste, collected and passed through a biological scrubber, before moving on to the final stages of production – screening, storage and dispatch. Here, the biogas is kept in storage tanks until required, when it is then pre-conditioned, cooled and pressurised before being sent for processing. At our ReFood UK division’s London and Widnes sites, the biogas produced undergoes a further refining process to remove CO2 and volatile organic compounds. An odorant is then added to the biomethane before it is pumped directly into the National Gas Grid. This process produces enough gas to supply up to 12,600 homes per year!
