🎉 Exciting news! Join us for our first event of the year, "The Drama of Dictatorship: Martial Law and the Communist Parties of the Philippines." 🗓️ Wednesday, 17 January 2024, 12:00pm-1:15pm. 🎙️ Speaker: Joseph Scalice, Assistant Professor, Hong Kong Baptist University. 📘 In September 1972, Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law and imposed a military dictatorship on the Philippines. Delve into the complexities of martial law in the Philippines as Joseph Scalice discusses his recently published book, The Drama of Dictatorship. In this seminar, Scalice examines the complex events leading up to the declaration and traces the political developments and social context that made martial law possible.
