🛎️ PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🛎️ The Beauty Advent Calendar Over the next month, you will be inundated with beauty promotions pushing the old trope, The Beauty Advent Calendar. It will read something like this… "Grab your advent calendar today. The perfect gift. Packed with beauty products. Worth £X, but yours for £Y." What it should say is this… "Once again, we have managed to cobble together a load of over-packaged products to sell to you in, guess what, even more unnecessary packaging. These products will sit at the bottom of various bathroom drawers and cabinets for the rest of the year and ultimately end up in landfill, at which point we’ll do the same thing all over again.” This is not a good gift for someone. It is a very BAD gift. It is a BADVENT CALENDAR. Instead, maybe you should buy your loved one some award-winning zero-waste skincare that delivers skin benefits they can see and feel without causing unnecessary harm to the environment. Just a suggestion.
About us
We’re SBTRCT; a new skincare company dedicated to making beautiful, highly effective, solid skincare. It seems we're all waking up to how our everyday choices, both positively and negatively, impact the planet. But the skincare industry has been slow to catch on. That’s why when we decided to launch a new range, we decided to do things a little bit differently; guilt free skincare, so your ethics don’t have to be left at the bathroom door. We take the very best proven ingredients and reduce them down to their most potent form. We only use only what’s necessary, to create products that deliver exceptional skincare benefits – only without the unnecessary ‘filler’ ingredients or wasteful excess packaging of most traditional creams and serums. All our products are cruelty free, palm oil free, soap free and have minimum water content. They’re suitable for vegans, perfect for travel and have packaging that is 100% compostable. All made with love here in the UK.

We started with concentrated skincare for your face…….but now we’re after your body! SBTRCT’s purpose as a brand is to make the highest performing skincare with the lowest environmental impact. Tackling the 3 big problems of the beauty industry - Plastic Pollution, Palm Oil & Water Waste. Over 41 million body washes are sold per year (that’s just in the UK) and all in plastic packaging. A simple switch from a bottle to a bar would have such a huge impact on the plastic pollution crises we are in. There is power in your shower. Think about making a little change today, for your skin and the planet. I give you the SBTRCT Daily Body Cleanse… This body bar lathers into a rich moisturising foam to effectively wash away dirt and debris whilst leaving skin soft and supple. The no-soap and skin-friendly formula moisturises and hydrates with a unique aromatic blend of essential oils inspired by the Japanese ritual of Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) providing a relaxing and spiritual scent experience that refreshes your senses. You're welcome. #skincare #bodycare #plasticfree #zerowaste https://lnkd.in/emAqm2jz

Towards the end of last year, our founder Benjamin Grace had the pleasure of meeting fellow Country & Town House Sustainability Award Winner, Tiffanie Darke, former editor of Sunday Times Style and now Sustainable Fashion Journalist. The two bonded over ethical consumerism and Tiffanie has become a full on SBTRCT convert…. “Absolutely love them. Think they have incredible texture and fragrance and then that's before the packaging. Congratulations, I absolutely never have a reaction like this to beauty products as they are mostly utterly generic.” Tiffanie’s sustainable fashion project, The Rule of Five, (whereby she pledges and challenges us to buy no more than 5 new fashion items a year) aligns perfectly with SBTRCT’s less is more ethos, so the two have decided to sit down and discuss the power of less and how the rule of five can be applied to all aspects of our life, including beauty. Save the date for the Instagram Live; 7pm 18/01/24.

It took us over 2 years to develop our concentrated skincare formulations. 2 years to create expert skincare products that were dermatologically approved and worked BETTER in a bar or balm form. It would have been A LOT easier to pump out another cream or lotion (believe us), but we were relentless and non-negotiable in our pursuit. We could see so many problems with skincare that needed solving, we were not going to take the easy route. SBTRCT to us was a necessity, not a nice to have. This is why: 💦 Traditional skincare formulations contain up to 80% water. Why was the customer paying so much for water? Our solid products are potent & undiluted 🌍 Concentrated, solid skincare means the products don’t need plastic packaging. Plastic is made from fossil fuels. Plastic litters our oceans. Plastic isn’t recycled. Plastic is bad. 💳 Creams and lotions don’t last long. Because we remove the water, our luxury products last twice as long (so much better value) 🌹Using powerful, natural ingredients like Rosehip Oil, Shea Butter, Squalane and Sea Buckthorn Oil are better for your skin than ingredients we can’t even pronounce 🐰Cruelty free and Vegan should be a non negotiable in skincare formulations (how has the law even changed here, how is it still happening?) 🌴Palm Oil is an ingredient in gazillions of beauty brands and is viewed by many as a major driver of deforestation, contributing to global warming, we didn’t want it in our products It’s hard work being the change maker, but as we close the year, 99% of our customers would recommend SBTRCT to a friend and our average review rating is 4.8 starts out of 5. If you do one thing in 2024, switch to solid.
