Meet our new Digital Centre Design panel 👋 We’re bringing together 12 digital experts to help create a 10-year vision for a digital centre of government. This will help us plan changes to how tech is used across public services, so we can cut backlogs, improve service outcomes and make government services more accessible. We look forward to working with co-chairs Baroness Martha Lane Fox and Paul Willmott and our panel members in the years to come. Jeni Tennison Dr A-Marie I. It's #NationalInclusionWeek. We asked six leaders from the science & tech sectors why diversity and inclusion matters, and what their organisation is doing about it 👇 Deborah Okenla, Founder and CEO, Your Startup, Your Story "Diverse founders often create products that work for a wider range of people, especially those who are typically left out. We're passionate about working with startups that make hiring diverse talent a priority right from the beginning. We help build companies where inclusion isn't just an afterthought - it's part of their DNA." Richard Deverell, Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew "Valuing, embedding and celebrating diversity enables us to be more creative, make better decisions and deliver better science outcomes. Our priority is to truly embed diversity throughout our organisation: our processes, our values, our communications." Della Freeth, CEO, Science Council "For the science and tech sectors to meet the needs of the whole of society, they must draw insight from every part of society. We've developed a Diversity and Inclusion Framework for our member organisations and we champion apprenticeships & T Levels to open up scientific careers to a wider range of people. Shri Mukundagiri, COO, Science Museum Group "Science has shown that diversity of experience and diversity of perspective help us reach the best outcomes. We aim to tell stories that speak to all visitors and grow a diverse workforce that reflects our communities" Alicia Greated, Executive Director, Campaign for Science & Engineering “An inclusive approach to science and engineering is the only way to place it at the heart of the UK’s future. We actively look to improve the diversity of voices we hear from at our events, in our policy work, and inside our organisation." Hannah Russell, CEO, British Science Association “Addressing the lack of diversity and inclusion in science and technology will be crucial for fostering innovation, bridging skills gaps, and creating a more equitable society. We're committed to building a workforce that values all people by eliminating bias in our recruitment practices and fostering a flexible, supportive environment.”
