We're pleased to announce a new £1.8 million project with Cadent Gas Limited, the UK's largest gas network. We'll be working together to help disabled people struggling with fuel costs. Our work will focus particularly on supporting people who are digitally excluded, and who are therefore less likely to access support.

🚨 The #DisabilityPayGap has remained largely unchanged for the last decade. It cannot continue for another. Previous efforts to close the gap clearly haven’t gone far enough. Disabled people who want to work should be able to. And they should be paid fairly and equally. We welcome plans to introduce mandatory disability pay gap reporting. But there’s still a long way to go. The disability minister says that the government is determined to tackle this. So we’ll be watching closely for the actions to back it up ⬇️

💬 “A disability, whether it’s visible or not, does not mean we aren’t capable of working. Most of us would do anything for a normal 9-5, but we have to be given the chance.” Over a million disabled people in the UK want to work, but are denied the opportunity to. What’s to blame for this? 🖥️ For some disabled people, poor attitudes and a lack of reasonable adjustments can make finding work harder. For Mark, it was often a case of companies not being ‘open minded’. The Disability Employment Gap has been stuck at around 30% points for over a decade. It’s time more employers gave people like Mark the opportunities they need. Text over the top is a Metro headline that reads: "I know how hard it is to rejoin the workforce, it took me 20 years."

Nobody should be ‘written off’ and told they can’t succeed. With the right support and adjustments, disabled people can thrive at work. It’s time to unleash that potential.

💬 “I didn’t think disabled people were allowed in films, because I didn’t see any.” Whether it's in the workplace, in sport, or in film and TV, this is why representation is so important.

We’re delighted to announce a new major partnership UK’s biggest dedicated parcel delivery company, Evri. We will be supporting Evri to be a more accessible and inclusive business. For their disabled consumers, their couriers and for their colleagues. This partnership has huge potential to improve the lives of disabled people. There are 16 million disabled people in the UK. That’s 1 in 4 of us, and huge proportion of Evri’s customers and workforce. By working together, we aim to create lasting and meaningful change in the logistics sector.

🚀 Working with disabled people to make their work accessible isn’t rocket science. Well… In this case, maybe it is. But it’s an exception. John McFall is training to be the first disabled astronaut working in space. But before that can happen, the European Space Agency needs to study how his prosthetic leg might be affected by the harsh conditions. This is such a stellar example of an employer recognising the value of a disabled person and working with them to make it a success. It’s the kind of attitude we need more of from employers. There are a million disabled people in the UK who can and want to work. And as John and the European Space Agency are proving, even the sky isn’t the limit for them 🌌
To boldly go: John McFall hopes to be the first astronaut with a disability
