About us
SEDA aims to promote the design of communities, environments, projects, systems, services, materials, and products that enhance life quality and are not harmful to living species and planetary ecology. Our members consist of designers from a wide range of fields: architects, product designers, landscape architects, builders, craftspeople and makers, academics and community enablers, and those with have an interest in how we can make places, objects and organisations work better with our environment. We are a knowledge-sharing organisation, both internally through networking and externally in the promotion of best practice in sustainable design methods. And we actively promote these issues to raise awareness to the wider public and authorities. linktr.ee/scotecodesign

We are delighted to show what you’re working on, Skye Chatburn ! Wishing you all the good things!
I'm excited to share that an overview of my dissertation in Architecture titled "Lessons Learned from the Implementation of the Retrofit Standard PAS 2035", has been published in the latest issue of The Scottish Ecological Design Association magazine! The article highlights the knowledge gaps and cost consequences associated with implementing PAS 2035, shedding light on critical areas that need attention. We hope this contribution will help future projects avoid some of the pitfalls mentioned and promote more PAS 2035 implementations. I'd like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mohammed Seddiki M(Arch), PhD, ACIAT, FHEA, BREEAM AP for supervising my dissertation and providing invaluable guidance throughout the year! Additionally I'd like to thank everyone who contributed their expertise towards my dissertation- this accomplishment wouldn't have been possible without your input and collaboration. Lastly a big thank you to Magdalena Blazusiak and Shravya Dayaneni for giving us the opportunity to write this article and share our insights! https://lnkd.in/dhAgtkGC Scott Sutherland School of Architecture & Built Environment - Robert Gordon University Robert Gordon University

SEDA MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER ISSUE OUT NOW https://lnkd.in/eQGRwbsm This issue of SEDA Magazine invites us to look beyond the familiar, to challenge assumptions, and to embrace the complexity of our interconnected world. From envisioning a fossil-fuel-free future to rethinking the very nature of value, we traverse landscapes both physical and conceptual, seeking pathways toward a more sustainable and equitable existence. The "Big Conversation" series challenges us to imagine a world transformed. Can we truly break free from the grip of fossil fuels? What role does the bio-economy play in this transition, and are we fully aware of its implications? We delve into the intricate relationship between food and the environment, exploring how our dietary choices impact the planet and ourselves. The voices of young people resonate, demanding better housing solutions that meet both their needs and the needs of the planet. We also grapple with the complexities of rebound effects and the challenges of implementing sustainable practices. The "circle of life" for digital services offers lessons in minimizing unintended consequences, while articles on carbon trading and PAS 2035 implementation highlight the need for transparency and accountability in our pursuit of sustainability. Diana Finch's "Value Beyond Money" prompts us to reconsider the very foundations of our economic system. The Bristol Pound experiment serves as a powerful reminder that value extends far beyond monetary wealth. It underscores the importance of community, resilience, and a holistic understanding of well-being. As we explore these diverse themes, the principles of Slow Design emerge as a guiding light. The careful attention to context, collaboration, and long-term impact exemplified by the Bristol Pound resonates with SEDA's core values. #ecologicaldesign #slowdesign #circulareconomy #SustainableDesign #sustainabledesign #sustainabledesigner #sustainablearchitecture #ecodesign #greendesign #bristolpound #JustTransition #justtransition #economy #scotland #scotlandisnow #greenfuture #resilience #ResilienceBuilding #sustainablearchitect #sustainablearchitects #sustainabledesigners
