A deal made between the Scottish and UK governments will allow Great British Energy to work with Scottish public bodies to support clean energy supply chains 👏 The deal will see funding made available for green energy projects across the country. UK Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband, visited Aberdeen, which was announced as the headquarters for the UK’s new publicly-owned energy company. He said: “Scottish energy workers will power the United Kingdom’s clean energy future, including in carbon capture and storage, in hydrogen, in wind, and with oil and gas for decades to come as part of a fair transition in the North Sea." #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition

Congratulations to Skillsminer for receiving funding to help it expand into the green energy sector 👏 We’ve awarded a SMART grant to Skillsminer to support the development of its AI career tool for the green energy sector. This funding will allow the Glasgow-based company to develop its innovative insights on transferable green skills and pathways into sustainable jobs, skills validation and routes with qualifications. Suzanne Sosna, our Director of Energy Transition, said: “We know renewable energy sectors provide growth opportunities for Scotland’s economy. Great news for Scotland's low-carbon energy sector 💰 Highview Power plans to develop the world’s largest liquid-air energy facility in Hunterston, Ayrshire 👏 First Minister, John Swinney, welcomed the news: “Scotland presents a unique environment for innovation and deployment of storage technologies and this ground-breaking project will bring hundreds of high skilled jobs to the region, both during construction and afterwards in supporting the supply chain.” Strategically placed in the grid-transmission network to maximise the use of Scottish-produced renewable electricity, the facility will deliver five times’ Scotland’s current operational battery storage capacity. The ground-breaking project will support 1000 jobs during construction and 650 supply-chain roles. #EnergyTransition #Renewables
