We’ve completed our latest solar project at Scottish Water's Gowan’s Terrace site in Perth, boosting the site’s sustainability. 🌍 With 1,236 ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels now up and running, this scheme will generate 0.53GWh of green energy annually - that's enough to boil 371,000 kettles! It will cover 14.5% of the site’s energy needs and save 96 tonnes of carbon each year. 🌱💡 Another important step in our journey toward net zero by 2040. Huge thanks to everyone who made this project a success, including our partners Emtec Energy. 💚 Read more: 👉 j1l.in/WgTdsq #NetZero #SolarPower #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #Renewables Donald MacBrayne Keliann Arthur Debbie Henderson Ian Piggott Elise Cartmell

About us
Our world is changing, growing and evolving. And as part of Scottish Water we’re using our infrastructure, knowledge and innovative ideas to encourage growth and sustainable development. Scottish Water has treatment works, reservoirs and tens of thousands of miles of water and waste water pipes. Some of these assets are either no longer used or simply underused. By harnessing the opportunities these assets provide, we are changing the horizon. From generating renewable energy from waste water to facilitating industry innovation to meet global water needs, we are helping our customers grow their business whilst contributing to a greener and more successful Scotland. Already we’ve helped customers enhance their environmental credentials by recycling food waste into green energy; delivered new water and waste water infrastructure to some of the biggest developments in Scotland; extended telecommunications by leasing our assets; and treated a variety of liquid wastes at our licensed treatment facilities. These are just some of the things we are doing to benefit our customers, our economy and our environment. If you would like to find out how we can help your business, contact us today.

🌍 We're on a mission to cut carbon emissions, and one exciting way we're doing that is by harnessing low-carbon heat from waste water! 💧 At this year's IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, Scottish Water CEO Alex Plant and Director Simon Parsons got the opportunity to connect with Stephen Condie, Chief Technical Officer at Noventa Energy Partners. We're collaborating with Noventa, whose HQ is in Toronto, on a several low-carbon heat opportunities across Scotland. 💚 They also got an up-close look at HUBER Industrial Solutions' cutting-edge heat recovery technology—showcasing the innovative solutions we're adopting to help Scotland reach #NetZero by 2045. #Sustainability #LowCarbonHeat #Innovation #IWA2024 #GreenEnergy Donald MacBrayne Danny Cowe David Ross Helen Smith Devan Zdrenka Dennis Fotinos Paul Kerr Lauren Allan

📢 We’ve just wrapped up a £2.3M solar power and battery energy storage scheme at Howden Water Treatment Works near Selkirk. 🌞⚡ With 2,112 solar panels and 15 battery racks, the scheme will save around 169 tonnes of carbon annually and power over a third of the site. Thanks to Wattstor battery systems, 100% of the green energy will be used on-site, reducing grid reliance and cutting operational costs. Big shout out to our team for their cracking work and diligence with site safety. Kudos also to our contractor Emtec Energy for their support and expertise. One step closer to net zero! 🌍💚 Read more 👉 j1l.in/PmUEfv #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #Solar #BESS #BatteryStorage Donald MacBrayne Ian Piggott Debbie Henderson Pauline Donnelly Neil Beaumont Elise Cartmell Scottish Water Martin Walker
