A ground-breaking Guide intended to improve the process of engagement with local people and communities in new woodland creation projects in Scotland was launched this week by Confor and partners. Colin Smyth MSP attended the launch event in Corsock, Dumfries & Galloway with representatives from Scottish Woodlands Ltd, Gresham House, Scottish Forestry and more. McNabb Laurie also led attendees on a visit to the Glaisters Bridge Community Woodland Site, a leading example of local engagement between Foresight Sustainable Forestry Company and Upper Urr Environment Trust (UUET). Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon said: “I welcome this guidance, particularly as it has been developed collaboratively with community representatives and with the aim of supporting more and better engagement in the woodland creation process.” Read more and download a copy of the Guide: https://lnkd.in/ew-TfvTU
