Winter Tee Times Return For 2024! ❄️ Entries close midnight 27 October ⏰ Once again, we're delighted that members of affiliated clubs are being given the opportunity to play some of the country’s most famous Open and Scottish Open Championship venues, as well as other prestigious courses at preferential green fee rates. ⛳ Muirfield, Prestwick and Royal Troon are available again, with some great new additions including Cruden Bay, Dumbarnie, Gleneagles, Gullane, Nairn and Royal Dornoch all joining the list for 2024/25. Proceeds from all tee-time sales will go towards the development of junior golf in Scotland, and Scottish Golf is very grateful to all venues for agreeing to take part. Let's talk Sustainability! 💚 Great to see so many club and course managers in attendance at our sustainability session yesterday hosted by Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club. Scottish Golf partnered with the Scottish Golf & Club Managers Association and British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association to put on the workshop which focused on how key personnel could work together to futureproof their clubs. Sustainability is not just a subject for greens staff to embrace – it’s a thread that should be running through every club policy and is key to a club’s long-term success. It lies at the heart of Scottish Golf’s strategic plans and the golf industry has a chance to lead and inspire when it comes to sustainable actions on and off the course. Amazing insight and learnings provided by Dr Robbie Fitzpatrick from the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, The R&A's John Kemp and Kilmarnock Barassie’s general manager and course manager, David Addison and Kerr Rowan. As today is the final day of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week we're giving a shout out to yet another golf club who has been inspiring more women to take up the sport of golf🏌️♀️ Cathcart Castle Golf Club has designed an affordable and accessible Get into Golf 3-year pathway, where participants can easily join or opt out at any time. Women are invited to start their golfing journey together through a group coaching programme, which teaches beginner golfers the basics of the game. Combining this with refresher and individual lessons, a buddy system with existing members, plus added extras such as providing clubs and equipment for the new beginners, which many members have donated, has meant the 3-year pathway has been a recipe for success and resulted in strong conversion from beginner golfers to fully signed up club members. 💯 We've really enjoyed sharing so many positive and inspiring stories about women's and girls' participation in golf this week. To mark the start of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, on 30 September Scottish Golf ran a special Activator Course for women. The course was free to attend and took place at Dundee & Angus College, Gardyne Campus. 13 attendees from areas including Angus, East Dunbartonshire, Perth & Kinross and Falkirk, representing 8 golf clubs, attended the course, led by Lecturer in Sports Coaching & Fitness at Dundee & Angus College, Alan Millar.
