Today, in honour of Mental Health Day, we hosted a "Recharge and Refresh" coffee morning. It provided our colleagues with an opportunity to prioritise their well-being and promote awareness of mental health in the workplace, aligning with this year's theme established by the World Mental Health Foundation.   As a dedicated signatory of the NHS Mindful Employer Charter, we ensure that all our colleagues have access to Able Futures, a supportive service available whenever they may need it. Additionally, we take pride in supporting Security Minds Matter, an organisation dedicated to promoting mental health in the security industry.   Let's continue to prioritise mental health and well-being in our workplace, today and every day.

SecuriGroup is delighted to announce the appointment of Neil Basu QPM to its senior leadership team. Neil brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career as Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service and former head of Counter Terrorism Policing in the UK. He is the only officer to have held the top three positions in Counter Terrorism Policing and was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2016. Neil led the operational response to the 2017 terror attacks and, in 2018, succeeded Sir Mark Rowley to become the first Asian to lead the UK’s Counter Terrorism Policing organisation.   In July 2021, Neil took on the role of Director for the Strategic Command Course, policing’s most senior leadership programme. He continues to serve as a trustee of Police Care UK and as the Patron of TINYg, an international non-profit counter terrorism research body for the private sector. Neil remains active in writing, lecturing, and advising on matters of police, criminal justice, and national security.   SecuriGroup’s Managing Director, Russel Kerr, said of the appointment “Neil’s unparalleled experience and dedication to public safety made him an ideal fit for SecuriGroup and will enhance our core purpose to strengthen society. We are thrilled to have Neil on board and look forward to the invaluable insights and leadership he will bring to our organisation.”

Earlier this week, the Security Industry Safer Scotland Counter Terrorism Group (SISS-CT) hosted a seminar on the anticipated Martyn’s Law.  The event was attended by representatives from a wide range of sectors including leisure, retail, and events from north and south of the border. Shaun Hipgrave, the Director of Protect and Prepare at the Home Office, was the principal speaker, complemented by inputs from the private security industry and the emergency services on learnings from the Manchester Arena atrocity in 2017, and the implementation of the Bill. Graham Vance of Scottish Rugby tied the various aspects together with a case study on the recent Taylor Swift concerts at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Allan Burnett QPM, the Chair of SISS-CT, said, ‘It was been a very worthwhile day for all of us with a role in implementing the anticipated legislation to keep people safe. Taking lessons learned seriously and sharing best practise are vital. We pay our respects to all victims of terrorism.’ We would like to thank Scottish Rugby for hosting, SecuriGroup for sponsoring, and our outstanding presenters. Shaun Hipgrave, Shaun Kennedy, David Brook, Police Scotland, Noel Mullan, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service, British Security Industry Association (BSIA)
