Crumbs! There was a mouth-watering start to last night’s final spring Branch Update at UHI Perth, sponsored by Aico. To get the ball rolling, John McLean from Member company JSM Electrical Ltd. treated the Tayside Branch to a box of special 125th anniversary cakes, made by his daughter. Aico’s Ryan Conway then delivered the topical technical presentation, with David Stebbings and Steven Hunter MIET from SECTT supplying an in-depth apprenticeship update. The evening’s official business saw Keith Smith from DAVIE ELECTRICAL SERVICES LTD appointed the new Branch Chair, with Grant Stewart of STEWART ELECTRICAL SERVICES LIMITED elected Vice Chair. Winners of our prize draw were Kevin Park of Park Electrical (Scotland) Ltd and David Peebles from D. PEEBLES ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR LIMITED , who both received test equipment courtesy of Megger. Thanks to everyone who attended our eight meetings over the past four weeks, and to Aico for sponsoring and delivering excellent presentations at each one. Now it’s on to the Toolbox Talks! 👉 Find out about our other events in 2025 here: https://bit.ly/events-25 #SELECT125 #electricians #membership #scotland #construction

SELECT - Trade Association for Electrical Contracting Industry Scotland reposted this
🚧 Construction Disputes Are Out of Control – It’s Time for Change ⚖️ Every construction professional has faced payment issues, design disputes, and contract conflicts—but why does our industry default to fighting rather than fixing? This episode of Own the Build is special—it’s part of Conflict Avoidance Week (24-28 March 2025), an industry-wide initiative led by the Conflict Avoidance Coalition to drive real change. I’m joined by Len Bunton - Bunton Consulting, Chair of the Coalition, to break down: 📅 What is Conflict Avoidance Week? Why should every construction professional care? 💰 Getting Paid Without the Fight – How better communication and early intervention can fix cash flow issues. 🤝 Collaboration or Just a Buzzword? What true partnership looks like on-site and in contracts. 📑 Best Practice for Contractors – The Construction Industry Collective Voice (CICV) Best Practice Guide and how it can stop disputes before they start. 💡 Key takeaway: If we spent half as much time avoiding disputes as we do fighting them, our industry would be in a far better place. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/edQ5DMhH 📢 Join the movement: Read more about the Conflict Avoidance Pledge and how you can get involved at www.capledge.org #OwnTheBuild #Construction #QuantitySurveying #Podcast
