The first clinical results using Seracam® for small organ imaging have been presented at European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) Congress 2024 in Hamburg, Germany. The study involves a comparison of the diagnostic accuracy and resolution of radiopharmaceutical uptake between Seracam® and standard gamma cameras in a range of different procedures. The e-poster submitted by Serac Imaging Systems’ clinical partners from the University of Malaya Medical Centre and Taylor's University, Malaysia includes case studies and images from a range of patients including parathyroid, lymphoscintigraphy and bone scan investigations. The findings demonstrate that Seracam® is highly suited to small field-of-view imaging applications such as thyroid and parathyroid using Tc-99m and I-131; sentinel node localisation studies and bone spot views, among others. Developing a portable, hybrid gamma-optical camera to bring molecular imaging to the patient bedside
About us
Serac Imaging Systems Ltd is a medtech company developing a portable hybrid gamma-optical camera for medical imaging. Our lead product is Seracam® which is in development to bring the benefits of high-resolution molecular imaging to a patient’s bedside, instead of being confined for use in a hospital’s nuclear medicine imaging department. A further unique feature of this technological approach is the overlay of a gamma image with an optical image of the same anatomical location under examination. Such portable and enhanced imaging technology has the potential to help clinicians make better, more informed and more timely treatment decisions. Seracam® is a UK and EU registered trademark. Seracam® is for investigational use only and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA or UK and European regulatory authorities. Serac Imaging Systems Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Serac Life Sciences Limited.

Our CEO, Mark Rosser, will be heading off to Hamburg later this week to attend the annual European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) congress taking place from 19-23 October. He will be available to discuss the latest developments with Seracam, including the first presentation of results from a small organ imaging study running in Malaysia, which will be presented in e-poster number EP-0715 throughout the conference. The abstract “SFoV Imaging Using a Hybrid Optical-Gamma Camera (HGC): Specifications and First Clinical Result” is accessible in the EANM ’24 Abstract book accessible until 7th November: https://lnkd.in/eKGB35vr And on our website here: https://lnkd.in/ewMry5yp Intan Noorliyana Md Musidek, Aik Hao Ng, Chai Hong Yeong, Alan Perkins University of Malaya, Taylor's University, Hermes Medical Solutions #EANM24 #nuclearmedicine #smallorganimaging #medicalimaging #hybridimaging #thyroidimaging

Our clinical partners from the University of Malaya today presented results from the first study evaluating Seracam in a surgical environment. The first user case in a clinical trial comparing the detection of sentinel lymph nodes in biopsy procedures in patients with breast cancer using Seracam® with standard gamma probe detection was presented in an oral presentation at the International Conference on Hybrid Imaging (IPET 2024) where the presenter Intan Noorliyana Md Musidek was selected for a ‘best of the best’ award. Based on these findings, the investigators have determined that Seracam® demonstrates clinical feasibility for sentinel lymph node imaging in breast cancer management. The study is ongoing. For full details please see the press release here: https://lnkd.in/e7CFDMdb The slide deck is available on request. Our CEO Mark Rosser will be joining this conference organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), taking place this week in Vienna. Intan Noorliyana Md Musidek from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya will be giving an oral presentation on the first results from a clinical trial running in Malaysia using our hybrid gamma-optical camera, Seracam®, in image guided surgery. The trial is comparing the detection of sentinel lymph nodes in biopsy procedures in patients with breast cancer with standard gamma probe detection. Seracam® is for investigational use only and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA or UK and European regulatory authorities. #nuclearmedicine #hybridimaging #pointofcareimaging #smalloranimaging #breastcancer #sentinellymphnodebiopsy #IPET2024
Let’s examine the critical role of medical imaging techniques—including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, PET, and SPECT scans—in detecting cancer earlier and with greater precision, improving patient outcomes at next week’s International Conference on Hybrid Imaging #IPET2024. On Monday, 04 October, join IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek and Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications Najat Mokhtar for the opening session. This will be followed by a high-level panel moderated by Director of the Division of Human Health May Abdel-Wahab on the latest innovations, challenges, and collaborations in medical imaging. 🔴 Tune in to the conference live: iaea.org/events/ipet-2024

Great to see this write up by Tami Freeman in Physics World on the significance of the performance testing work on Seracam which was recently published in the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI), Physics. Thanks Sarah Bugby Loughborough University for clearly explaining the potential benefits of imaging with our compact, portable hybrid optical-gamma camera. Seracam’s performance characterisation results have been published for the first time by our academic partners at Loughborough University: “The results of this work clearly demonstrate that for SFOV [small field of view] imaging, Seracam offers the potential to extend the utility of nuclear medicine investigations beyond the restraints of the larger fixed camera systems.” Congratulations to Sarah Bugby and the team on this important publication. We have received great news from our clinical partners running studies using Seracam at the University of Malaya Medical Centre. Dr Aik Hao Ng and his team are reporting encouraging early results using Seracam and have had abstracts accepted on the clinical evaluation of scans using the camera in both small organ imaging and image guided surgery at two prestigious meetings this autumn. Please see more details here: https://lnkd.in/eqMRd3_t Seracam® is for investigational use only and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA or UK and European regulatory authorities. Thank you Dr Aik Hao Ng for sharing these first images of Seracam in the operating theatre. We look forward to our continued work with you and the University Malaya Medical Centre team on this study.
It is a priviledge to be part of the SERACAM project and conducted the first use SERACAM in the sentinel node localization procedure in breast cancer surgery at #UMMC. Due to the big size of standard gamma camera, our team have been working hard and dreamed to bring this camera into the operating theatre for intra-operative imaging. 6 June 2024 marked an important milestone where we managed to perform the first use of SERACAM in the OT for breast cancer surgery. There is a dream, there is a hope❤️ #medicineum #fomum #ServingTheNation #ImpactingTheWorld #homeofthebright #landofthebrave
