As part of a conversation for International Women's Day earlier this year, our CEO, Donna Bellingham, shared her views on ‘Women in Furnishing’ and offers her advice to young talent entering the industry. “I feel excited about the opportunities for young people coming into the furniture industry today. Presenting Kings Court (Kingsley Healthcare Group) – a brand-new luxury care home in the historic town of Holt. Shackletons were delighted to work with Jacqui Smith – HomeSmiths, the interior designers, for this ambitious project, to design an interior that embodied the elegance and luxury of a top-class hotel combined with the personal touches to make it feel like home. This next-generation care home has been shortlisted as a finalist in the SBID® - Society of British & International Interior Design Awards in the Health & Wellbeing category and the Knight Frank Luxury Care Awards 2024. Last Saturday, a group of Shackletons colleagues and their friends and family laced up their walking shoes and took part in the Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk at Temple Newsam in Leeds. We are delighted to have raised over £1,500 for this vital cause, contributing to the Alzheimer’s Society’s incredible work to support those living with dementia and their loved ones. This Saturday is World Alzheimer’s Day. There are currently around 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and this is expected to rise to 1.6 million people by 2040. It is estimated that 70% of residents in UK care homes have dementia or severe memory problems. Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently there is no cure. Shackletons are proud to support the Alzheimer's Society to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that impacts so many lives in our sector. On Saturday 28 September, a team of Shackletons colleagues will be taking part in the Leeds Memory Walk, along with their friends and family, to raise vital funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society.
