This Saturday is World Alzheimer’s Day. There are currently around 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and this is expected to rise to 1.6 million people by 2040. It is estimated that 70% of residents in UK care homes have dementia or severe memory problems. Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently there is no cure. Shackletons are proud to support the Alzheimer's Society to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that impacts so many lives in our sector. On Saturday 28 September, a team of Shackletons colleagues will be taking part in the Leeds Memory Walk, along with their friends and family, to raise vital funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society. If you would like to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society to support their research and to help those living with or supporting someone with dementia in the UK, you can donate to the Shackletons Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society here: https://lnkd.in/eNSnYn_S ##WorldAlzheimersDay
