We’ve got some good news and bad news… The good news? Trust in charities is soaring! 🎉 A recent Charity Commission report shows that 63% of people now have confidence in the sector. The bad news? Donations aren’t keeping up. While more people rely on charity services than ever, fewer are giving—and it’s hitting hard. 😬 So, what’s the solution? In her latest piece for WARC, Leila Hashemi breaks down how charities can close the trust-action gap by leveraging digital tools, launching bold campaigns, and meeting donors where they are. Stop F-ing around with fossil fuels. 👏🔥 Clean Creatives just dropped their F-List, exposing the agencies that are still profiting from the climate crisis. 🌍💔 Are you on the right side of history? Check out the full list below. 👇 A massive well done to the team at Clean Creatives for the big effort that has gone into this and for holding our industry accountable. 🙌
🚨The 2024 F-List is here, highlighting an expanded list of Advertising and PR agencies that continue to profit from fossil fuel clients while ignoring our ominous climate emergency. 🔗 in bio. 🟢 Why the F-List Matters 🟢 According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, fossil fuel companies are "enablers to planetary destruction." That warning is yet another reminder of why it’s important to shine a light on the network of enablers that help greenwash their destruction, which is why we continue to push forward with our mission. 🔥Highlights of our 2024 research found: ✔️1,010 fossil fuel contracts across 590 Ad & PR agencies, based on over 30 new sources of data. ✔️ WPP tops the F-List with 79 fossil fuel contracts. They claim they don't take on work "designed to frustrate the Paris Agreement," yet their client list tells a different story. ✔️Ogilvy and McCann Worldgroup hold 15 contracts each - more than any other agencies. ✔️Fossil fuel giants like Shell and bp have the most contracts with ad agencies worldwide. ✔️dentsu, once a sustainability role model, is now caught in an ironic twist. They're working with Chevron, Shell, and PETRONAS while promoting anti-pollution campaigns. ✔️Edelman, one of the world's largest PR firms, has long been in bed with fossil fuels, and continues to do so. For context, 2024 is officially the hottest year on record. The fossil fuel industry is doubling down with lobbying, legal threats, and greenwashing, all while upping production of the very thing they’ve promise to “decrease” – fossil fuel production – right in front of our eyes. This narrative doesn’t happen on it’s own. Agencies can no longer hide behind vague sustainability statements. The F-List exists to hold them accountable. It's time to take real action. “Young people are too lazy nowadays” 😴 The #YouthPowerSummit proved just how wrong that really is! Hosted by the brilliant team at Fondation Botnar, the event was nothing short of incredible. 🎉 💡 Our Strategy Lead Callum was in the thick of it, soaking up insights and ideas. Here’s what he learned: 1️⃣ Young people are demanding authentic engagement—“Nothing about us without us!” They recognise that mental health thrives within community support, not isolation. 💪 2️⃣ Youth movements are transforming the landscape—whether through protests or digital advocacy, they’re proving that organised determination leads to real change. 🙌 3️⃣ Climate anxiety is a growing concern for young leaders—it’s time mental health programmes address the climate crisis head-on. 🌱💔 4️⃣ LGBTQ+ safe spaces are essential for promoting inclusivity, protecting rights, and safeguarding mental health. 🏳️🌈 The message is clear: World leaders and organisations must invest in the potential of today’s youth—they are not just the future, but the driving force of today, and here to stay! 💪✨ #YouthLeadership #ClimateAction #MentalHealthMatters #LGBTQInclusion #CommunitySupport Restless Development

I could not be prouder to have played a part in bringing to life the Youth Power Summit this weekend in New York. Set against the backdrop of #UNGA and the #SummitOfTheFuture, the event brought together young people who are actively fighting for their communities and policy leaders in the international multilateral system (collaborators such as UN Women, Born This Way Foundation, PMNCH, The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, and many more) all in one place - New York City, home of the United Nations. The youth participants told me that the “historic” Youth Power Summit ensured that they felt seen, heard and part of a solution to the big issues facing young people: digital safety, gender-based violence, mental wellbeing, LGBTQ+ safe spaces, and more. A huge shoutout and thank you to the Shape History dream team that created an incredible brand for the event, and promoted and told the story of the summit’s core goal: to ensure youth voices are heard. Another huge shoutout and thank you to the fantastic teams at Fondation Botnar, Restless Development and Portland for their creativity, energy, patience(!), and collaborative spirit. Special thank you to: Anushka Dalal Johanna Alck Leila Hashemi Zoë Jessica Dawson Anya Parakh Sara Baena Rineke Veenendaal MA Ursula Jasper Christine Zwaans Emily Blitz Alex Farrington Jessica Kepler Sonal Gupta Rosanne Palmer-White Jessica Smart Sasha W. And that’s a wrap! Thank you to everybody who attended and participated in the Youth Power Summit in New York City. We heard incredible conversations involving young people, policy makers, global leaders, funders and partners. Hosted alongside the #SummitOfTheFuture and #UNGA, the Youth Power Summit tapped into the perspectives of young people, to ensure that youth voices were heard. #YouthPower #YouthPowerSummit Restless Development PMNCH UN Women Born This Way Foundation The MTV Staying Alive Foundation and many more…

👏 Today PRWeek x People Like Us shared the results of their fourth gender and ethnicity pay gap study for the PR sector. They secured their highest number of entrants to date, though with a notable continued resistance from the largest agencies to take part. With the help of Labour’s plans of new legislation to make ethnicity pay gap reporting mandatory, they may not have a choice. Good. Well done to Sheeraz Gulsher, Mike Levaggi and John Harrington for their tireless push to help make our industry more inclusive. 👀 We’re so proud to be a part of this initiative to allow agencies to demonstrate their yearly progress. We like to be transparent so here's how Shape History did: - Gender: Women are paid 100% of the mean average, and account for 68% of senior staff and 67% of the workforce. This has given us a 2024 score of 100/100, compared to 97/100 last year. - Ethnicity: Those from ethnic minority backgrounds are paid 96% of the mean average, and account for 37% of senior staff and 43% of the workforce. This has given us a 2024 score of 96/100, compared to 97/100 last year. Transparency around pay gaps is such a crucial step in addressing race and gender equity in the workplace. If you want to chat/brainstorm about any of this - initiatives that can help or challenges and how to overcome them - let me know! https://lnkd.in/eZPjUKmb
