"𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀" - Carl Jung. This quote really resonated with me this week. How many of us hide who we truly are at work to fit in? How many of us adapt or change who we are to get ahead? How many of us see our deeper, thoughtful or spiritual side as something removed from and apart from our professional selves? Something that cannot and should not be integrated? The more I reflect on the power of female leadership and how, by leaning into the extraordinary feminine qualities we have, we can create enormous impact - the more I've come to realise that the way to tap into these qualities is by living in true alignment by understanding: 🤷♀️ Who am I? 💎 What matters most to me? 🎯 What is my purpose? 🙇♀️ How can I best serve as a leader? It is by integrating the contraries that we achieve wholeness. #alignment #femaleleaders #femaleleadership #femalementor #femalecoach #femalecoaching ------------------------------------ At SheCapital, we work in a holistic way to empower senior women to lead authentically by embracing self-discovery and coming into alignment with who they truly are – helping you align your what, how and why. 👋 Happy Monday 👋 How are you feeling today? If you are UK based today might feel like the start of a big week for you. If you have children your week will no doubt be filled with all the priorities that come with getting your kids back to school and settling back into the routines of old. If you don't have children you may still feel the impact as the roads and trains get busier and offices are once more filled with people back from their summer break. For all of us, wherever we are based, it is also the start of a new season - Autum in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring in the Southern Hemishere. Amidst all of these changes you might be feeling a range of emotions: 😕 Disoriented 😴 Sluggish 👟 Energetic 🎯 Focused A new season is the ideal time to reset your priorities and goals, to reassess whether you are working in alignment with your values and identify what changes might be needed. Seasonal changes often symbolise new beginnings and changes, similar to the start of a new year, inspiring reflection and reassessment. New seasons also offer a fresh canvas to set new intentions and goals that align with your values, purpose and aspirations so you can direct your energy toward what truly matters to you. A new season serves as a powerful reminder to pause, reflect, and recalibrate our priorities and goals - an opportunity to embrace change, set new intentions, and approach the upcoming months with clarity and purpose. Welcome to a new Season 🌻 🍂 #newseason #goals #focus #reflection #reassessment #femalecoaching #femalecoach #femalementoring #femalementor ------------------------------------------------------------ At SheCapital, we work in a holistic way to empower senior women to lead authentically by embracing self-discovery and coming into alignment with who they truly are – helping you align your what, how and why. 🎇 A different post today as I celebrate a special anniversary 🎇

25 years ago today I arrived in London. I left behind a job in market development & marketing that I loved at Unilever, a comfortable life and much better weather (!) to build a new life here with the man who went on to become my husband three years later. I remember the struggle of trying to secure my first job here. Despite having Unilever on my CV I kept getting rejected for having no UK experience. I remember being ill for the first 12 months as my body adjusted to the bugs and viruses I hadn’t been exposed to before. I remember the first dingy, mouldy flat we lived in that was barely habitable. I remember surviving my first winter. I remember the challenges of completing my MBA dissertation during my first 6 months here, and attending my graduation ceremony the following summer. I remember my family being convinced I had completely lost the plot! I remember finally starting to find my feet once I secured my first job and started the process of rebuilding my career. Thank you to my first boss, John Glendinning, for seeing something in me and giving me a chance. After that London very quickly felt like home, and it still feels like home today. I remember being told I was “too digital” after the dot-com bubble burst in the early 2000s 😂 I remember my wedding here three years later. The past 25 years have been filled with so many experiences: ❇️ 10 Executive positions, transitioning from marketing to digital to specialising in digital transformation - culminating in my final Executive role as Managing Director at Love Home Swap ❇️ 5 family traumas ❇️ 4 redundancies ❇️ 2 homes purchased - 1 sold ❇️ 1 auto-immune disease diagnosis ❇️ 1 wedding ❇️ 1 citizenship ceremony I have now lived here for nearly half my life and continue being grateful every day for the experiences, opportunities and challenges that have shaped who I am today - and the joy of this chapter of my life I now get to enjoy: ❇️ 5 Non-Executive Director positions ❇️ Running my Digital Advisory practice, The Digital Advisor ❇️ Coaching & Mentoring senior women, helping them achieve their own goals as SheCapital Thank you to everyone who has played a part in my first 25 years here. Thank you to those who have gone on to become my closest friends – you know who you are. Thank you London. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- THINGS I POST ABOUT ON LINKEDIN: 💻Technology – the pace of change, new entrants, AI, governance considerations ⚖️Governance – considerations for NEDs & Boards, innovation, strategy, sustainability 👩🏻Female empowerment – personal development, leadership, alignment GET IN TOUCH TO DISCUSS: ❇️ Chair & NED positions ❇️ Digital Advisory services: www.digital-advisor.co.uk ❇️ Holistic coaching & mentoring for Executive women: www.she-capital.com ❇️ Keynote speaking opportunities

Today I would love to introduce you to Aki Ra - the second extraordinary person I met in South East Asia. Aki Ra doesn't know how old he is, and believes he is around 50 or so. His parents were killed by the Khmer Rouge during their bloody reign of terror in Cambodia. He was raised by them to lay landmines from the tender age of 5 or 6, was given his first weapon at around the age of 10 and went on to become a highly effective soldier. Recognising what the Khmer Rouge regime were doing as wrong, he defected to fight for the Vietnamese against the Khmer Rouge in the early 1980s. He shares stories of being sent to hunt for food at night, during which he would run into his old friends still fighting for the Khmer Rouge and they would play together. The next day they would kill each other. After the conflict ended Aki Ra initially tried to find a job, but no one would hire him because of his history and the fact he was illiterate at the time. Aside from trying to find work he knew he had a burning desire to do all he could do right the wrongs of his past. He started out by supporting the efforts to clear the country of landmines - working on his own without any protective equipment, painstakingly clearing tracts of land inch by inch. Determined to set up a landmine museum, he battled and fought to be taken seriously as an illiterate man when trying to obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the authorities. He finally wore them down and today you can not only visit the museum (https://lnkd.in/eHrVaPCN), but also the school he founded next door which educates young people from challenging backgrounds who have been rejected by society as "problem" students. He trains those willing to join the mission to continue clearing landmines - who spend up to 3 months at a time away from home in teams (now with protective equipment thankfully). Despite being recognised internationally for his efforts as a CNN Hero (https://cnn.it/3YRwotR) he remains humble and focused on the mission. He speaks about his experiences with a tinge of humour, which I suspect is his way of coping with everything he has seen in life. Having come from a war-torn country myself there was so much that Aki Ra shared that struck very close to home and which I found difficult to hear, but also so much I took from my experience of meeting him: 💪 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 - the ability to keep going despite seemingly unsurmountable odds 💪 His ability to 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 on what really matters 💪 His relentless 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to achieve his goals 💪 His 𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to prioritise supporting and educating others 💪 The ability we all have as humans for 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 💪 His 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 So many incredibly powerful lessons for us all. #leadership #resilience #reinvention #focus #femalecoaching #femalecoach #femalementor

❓Why am I not achieving as much as X? It must mean I'm a failure ❓How can X afford that new car or that fancy holiday? She must be earning so much more than me ❓How did X manage to land that amazing job? She must be so much better than me ❓Why didn't I get that job or promotion? I'm not good enough - there must be something wrong with me ❓Why is everyone else's life so amazing - with the perfect house, the perfect partner and the perfect life? My life is nowhere near as good Sound familiar to you? The truth is that for so many of us we spend so much time looking to everyone else for a benchmark of success, constantly comparing and criticising our own performance and achievements that we forget - 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝗼𝘆. Comparing ourselves to others sucks the time, energy, mental space and joy we could be using to: 🕹 Find joy and meaning in the people, activities and endeavours that bring real purpose and meaning to our lives 🕹Live in alignment with our own purpose and values 🕹Give ourselves permission to try something new – accepting that we might fail 🕹Celebrate what makes each of us truly special and unique 🕹Appreciate all our achievements and accomplishments fully and completely There is no one on this Earth quite like you. There is no one on this Earth with the same purpose and mission as you. There is no one on this Earth with the same circumstances as you. You are unique. You are special. I've just returned from an unforgettable trip to South East Asia, where I had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful, incredible people who taught me so much. Today I wanted to introduce you to Somnang. Somnang is a 16 year old novice monk living in a Buddhist Pagoda in the Kampong Cham province of Cambodia. He's been there for 4 years and went to live there to further his studies and honour his parents for bringing him into the world. Coming from a poor family, this is one of the only ways he has to continue his studies (an avenue only available to males). His parents both work in Thailand, where there are better employment opportunities, but he does have an Uncle and sister living not too far away who he gets to see around twice a year. He plans to continue serving as a monk until he is 20 and when he leaves he wants to become a Maths teacher. Somnang's beautiful, calm energy and soul struck such a chord with me that I haven't been able to forget him and the lessons I've taken with me: ➡ Simplicity: his needs are simple, with no material possessions beyond his monk's clothing, his study books and the set of plates & cutlery he uses for each meal. ❔ How can I simplify my own life to focus on the things that really matter? ➡ Community: he lives among a community of monks, who are there to support and learn from each other every day. Anything they have they share with each other. ❔What can I do in my daily life to better support those around me? ➡ Shared values: underpinning their sense of community are shared values and beliefs based on the 5 Buddhist principles: do not steal, do not murder, do not engage in sexual activity, do not drink and do not lie. ❔For me this means ensuring I recommit to the practices and rituals that strengthen my ability to live in alignment with my values. ➡ Service: dedication to serving each other and the communities around them. People turn to them for advice on their life decisions and for their blessings (which we were fortunate to receive from Somnang too). ❔How can I find new ways to dedicate myself to the service of others? ➡ Gratitude for everything they have. I've spoken before about the importance of gratitude, but I have added to this list an extreme gratitude for the access I've had to education - recognising this isn't the case everywhere. What struck me the most was how, in that moment with him, I felt the very essence of his beautiful spirit - something I still see whenever I look at the photo he generously allowed us to take of him. And as a final lighthearted demonstration that, despite everything, he remains a regular young man, I loved that we saw him take some of the donations we gave him to an ice cream stall afterwards to buy himself, and the fellow novice monks with him, a little treat on a very hot day 🍦 #blessed #lifelessons #buddhism #learningeveryday #femalecoaching #femalecoach #femalementor

❓ What comes to mind when you think of Self care? ❓ Self care is so much more than a trendy term, it is a fundamental practice for maintaining our overall wellbeing. At its core, self care involves engaging in activities that nurture our physical, mental, and emotional health - taking intentional steps to care for ourselves by recognising our needs and making choices that support our long-term health and happiness. In our fast-paced, always-on world, it’s easy to get caught up in the demands of work, family and social commitments, often at the expense of our own wellbeing, leading to burnout, stress and a host of health issues. Self care is highly personal and can take many forms. It might mean taking a daily walk to clear the mind and get some exercise. For others, it could be setting aside time for a favourite hobby, practicing mindfulness or meditation, or ensuring you get enough sleep. The key is to identify what activities rejuvenate and refresh you and make them a regular part of your routine. Self care also supports us with maintaining a healthy work-life balance by helping us stay focused, motivated and better equipped to handle the challenges of everyday life - recognising that we are our own most valuable asset. How are you planning to practice self care this weekend? #SelfCare #WellBeing #MentalHealth #WorkLifeBalance #femalecoach #femalecoaching #femalementor
