Whether you're using a CAFM, CMMS, IWMS, or any other system to manage your property, it’s likely to be an essential tool for your maintenance and management strategy. To truly maximise its value, the data driving it must be accurate and consistently up-to-date. Reliable, current data ensures your system operates at its full potential, helping you make informed decisions, streamline operations, and avoid costly mistakes. So, how can Sircle help? For the last 32 years, we have been supporting clients in implementing, populating, and maintaining the accuracy of their system of choice. This has resulted in maximum returns on their investment and confidence to use their data for future planning, reporting, and funding applications. Our highly trained staff work daily with systems including MICAD, Ostara, ZetaSafe, MRI Planet & Concept, Plannon, Archibus, CAFM Explorer, Space IQ, Concerto, Service Works Global, Tabs, TrackPlan, Idox and many others. We support our clients by providing one of the widest ranges of services of any charted surveying practise, whether that be the creation or updating of CAD drawings, MEP Asset surveys, Asbestos re-inspection, occupancy surveys and or simply population of information into their system of choice, all of which allow their system to support continual improvements across the estate. To find out more email: webenquiry@sircleuk.com www.sircleuk.com

Here are a few photos from recent fire door surveys showing electromagnetic locks fitted to the fire door leafs. These are often retrospectively fitted and should only be used when they have fire test evidence and are compatible with the door. They should also be fitted with an intumescent sleeve/material to provide fire protection to the door's core. #fdsw2024 #firedoorsafetyweek

One of the most common issues our fire safety team encounter when inspecting fire doors is the lack of maintenance and regulation of the gaps around the doors. Fire doors are heavy, and with continual use, the performance of the hinges can fail over time, causing the door to drop. Gaps that are too wide or too narrow can reduce the door’s effectiveness at preventing smoke and fire spread. Do you have enough hinges, and are these of a suitable gauge for the type of fire door required? Maintaining a fire door's original specifications is crucial for ensuring it performs as intended in an emergency. Even minor changes or repairs can unintentionally compromise its effectiveness, which is why it’s important to follow guidelines and consult with professionals when making any modifications. So, what are the impact of modifications: - Incorrect Painting: Applying paint or other finishes can sometimes impact the door's fire-resistance. Certain types of paint or finishes might not be tested with the door and could affect its ability to resist fire. - Holes and Cutouts: If you drill holes for door hardware or other purposes, it can affect the door’s integrity. The fire-resistance rating is based on the door's original construction, and any alterations, such as cutting for hardware or adding windows, can compromise its performance during a fire. - Non-Approved Hardware: Using non-approved or incorrect hardware can also impact the door’s fire-resistance. Fire doors are designed to work with specific types of hardware and components, which are tested together as a system. The above highlights the importance of regular maintenance and careful consideration of any changes to ensure that fire doors continue to provide the protection they are designed for. At Sircle, we carry out Fire Door Surveys across the UK in a wide range of buildings, including hospitals, schools, offices, and commercial properties. Our inspections reveal that approximately 75% of the doors we assess have defects that impair their ability to contain fire and smoke, posing a risk to both property and lives. In his latest article, Anthony Walker FRICS MIFireE discusses the most common issues and explains how professional fire door surveys can help address them, ensuring your building is safe and compliant. https://lnkd.in/ewh5Zvxi #fdsw2024 #fdsw #firedoorsafetyweek
