We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for our organization at Brighton Pride 2024. From August 2nd to 4th, we proudly partnered with Red Bull to host an outstanding event, featuring a lineup of 23 DJs from the Black and People Of Color, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent communities across two locations: Old Stein Gardens and the Fabuloso Festival in Brighton and Hove. Over the course of nearly 50 hours of music, we were honored to share an incredible experience with our community. The response from our attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with the community coming together to celebrate diversity and inclusivity through music. Our DJs delivered remarkable performances that energized the crowds and created unforgettable moments at Old Stein Gardens and beyond. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the talented DJs who made this event possible and to Red Bull for their invaluable support. This collaboration has significantly enhanced our visibility and impact within the community, reinforcing our commitment to fostering unity and creativity through music. We look forward to continuing this journey and hosting more events that bring people together .

🌟 WE SKATE Program at Dovetail for Summer 2024 🌟 It has been incredible to run our "We Skate" initiative at Dovetail Community Centre with Populo Living in the past and it is now in full swing for Summer 2024 until August. MSGP coaches run our Tuesday skate lessons at the center, teaching kids how to familiarise themselves with the board, cruise, and do some tricks. The Dovetail community have helped us in reaching our targeted audience to provide free skate programs for kids living in the Carpenters estate. Our program, We Skate for children of marginalised genders, has been funded three times and delivered in collaboration with Young Hackney community centre, Mandeville Primary School and Poplar Harca housing association in Tower Hamlets. This year we are running it with the support from Nike and Spotify, and Newham council aimed to engage inactive girls and kids of marginalized genders. We worked closely with the council to provide these sessions as well as collect the impact of introducing sports and helping people and kids stay active whilst enjoying skating in the summer. #WeSkate #DovetailxMSGP #SummerProgram2024 #SkateGalsAndPals #CommunityEngagement #Empowerment #YouthPrograms #Skateboarding

We are thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with the Design Museum, where Skate Gals & Pals (SGP) organized a series of skating lessons and workshops. During the winter holiday break and the February Half-term lessons, Skate Gals & Pals activated the Skateboard exhibition at the Design Museum with lessons and workshops, reaching out to and representing London's diverse skateboarding communities. During the winter holidays (27.12.23-7.01.24) and throughout the February half-term (10.02.2024-17.02.2024), SGP conducted two dedicated coaching session weeks for under 16s, along with daily open skate sessions catering to skilled skaters. During our skate sessions, we had the pleasure of engaging with around 50 enthusiastic young skaters eager to learn and improve their skills. Our goal was to empower participants from diverse backgrounds, providing them with the opportunity to express themselves creatively through skating. Additionally, we hosted workshops to further enrich the participants' experiences. On February 16th, we organised drop-in zine making, mural making, and grip tape design workshops for kids under 16, attracting 45 participants of mixed ages. On February 17th, we held an adult deck design workshop alongside children's zine making and mural design workshops, with 50 participants, including families. At the heart of SGP is community building and a community centred approach to skateboarding, making it more accessible to marginalised identities and underrepresented communities in the field of skateboarding. We were able to bring this vision during this collaboration particularly on February 24th when MSGP community members participated in a guided deck design workshop at the museum. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and use the skate ramp with their newly decorated skateboards. Our collaboration with the Design Museum marked a significant milestone for SGP, showcasing our commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting the growth of underrepresented communities in the skating world. Through our skate lessons and workshops, we aimed to provide inclusive and empowering experiences for all participants, while highlighting the artistic contributions of BIPOC communities within skating. Moving forward, we remain committed to our mission of promoting diversity and community within the skating world, and we look forward to future collaborations that further this goal. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported us in making these events a success. Let's continue to skate, create, and inspire together! 🛹🎨 #MSGP #SGP #DesignMuseum #Skateboarding #Inclusion #CommunityBuilding
