𝟳 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗶/𝗦𝗮𝗮𝗦 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁: I met with a prospect client yesterday in sunny Barcelona, the SaaS/Ai company has recently experienced growth since adopting Ai in their functionality and the CEO asked me a very simple but important question, "how do you know when to pivot from operational cost saving/efficincies to growth". So below is a framework we work from. 𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 Indicator: If your cash flow is steady and your unit economics (such as customer acquisition cost versus lifetime value) are positive, this may signal that your business can sustain growth initiatives without risking cash reserves. 𝟮. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 Indicator: Increased inbound leads, positive market feedback, or growing interest in your segment suggest demand is trending upwards. This can result from broader industry growth, increased adoption of AI, or shifts in customer needs. 𝟯. 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁 Indicator: Low churn rates, strong customer satisfaction scores, and consistent positive feedback indicate that your product or solution is meeting a real need effectively. 𝟰. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Indicator: If competitors are raising capital, launching new features, or aggressively acquiring customers, it may suggest the market is evolving quickly. 𝟱. 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 Indicator: Favourable financing conditions (e.g., investor interest, manageable interest rates) are often a signal to invest in growth while capital is accessible. 𝟲. 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 Indicator: If the company has a well-defined growth strategy—e.g., specific target customer segments, high-potential channels, or scalable processes—it reduces the risk of moving away from cost-cutting. 𝟳. 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 Indicator: You have a capable leadership team and operational systems in place that can handle increased growth activity without sacrificing quality or customer satisfaction.

𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲? 2024 has certainly been a year where cost-saving and operational efficiency have taken precedence over growth. As a leader in an AI or SaaS company or an investor overseeing a portfolio, you’ve likely felt the impact of the economic headwinds. Many of us are turning to AI, hoping it will help streamline our sales processes—from prospecting and lead qualification to targeted outreach. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆? I’d be interested to hear your experiences. 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲? Most of us would agree that 2024 has been a year focused on cost savings and operational efficiencies, rather than rapid growth. Whether you're leading an AI/SaaS company or managing a portfolio, this year has brought its share of challenges and hard decisions. One area many of us are exploring—or actively investing in—is AI’s potential to transform sales. From prospecting and lead scoring to personalised outreach, AI promises efficiency. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜’𝗺 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀: 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵?
