I cannot thank the Stephen Lawrence Foundation enough for the support given to me, from the Racing Media Academy through to my internship with the Racing Post. Coming from a working class background up in Middlesbrough, I certainly wouldn't have been able to accept my place on the internship in London without that support. The SLDF team also did everything they could to provide the most convenient accommodation possible and I was humbled by the care and thought given to the decision. I felt very safe at The Curve and with a short tube journey to work and an amazing study space, it was everything I needed. There was much to see and do close by, so it was truly the perfect place to stay. The later additions of other RMA cadets made it even more special! To not have to give a second thought to financial struggle allowed me to completely focus on what was truly a lifelong dream scenario of working at the Racing Post. Those two months saw me grow tremendously as a journalist and person. I've learnt so much, had a lot of fun, and made many amazing contacts in the industry. The Racing Post crew were fabulous with me and to have worked so closely with its senior news editors, feature writers, and reporters was surreal. I got the chance to write for print very early on and it gave me a lot of confidence for my ability to be trusted so quickly, and it only got better from there! I made great relationships with many other colleagues and they too offered so much support and encouragement. I now feel confident about my future career in the racing world. I owe this invaluable, life-changing experience to the Racing Media Academy and the Stephen Lawrence Foundation! You guys are absolutely incredible, thank you very much for the work you do. -Mary Jo Visit stephenlawrenceday.org to make a donation and help us continue Stephen’s legacy by supporting the work of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation.🧡 #stephenlawrence #stephenlawrenceday #racingmediaacademy #careers #horseracing #support #youthsupport

The impact of Black footballers on the beautiful game is immeasurable. From breaking barriers to inspiring generations, their legacy shines brightly. ✨ We’re thrilled to celebrate this rich history and the remarkable achievements of these players in the new book, Are We Allowed to Just Dream?, published by Ladder Boyz. This tribute to Black heroes of the sport is beautifully brought to life by British-Nigerian author and founder Damilola David Adekoya and co-creative directed by French-Cape Verdean Margot Purgues. In a special feature, the spoken word piece Black is Beautiful—written and performed by the talented Kieran Kenlock 🎥 —serves as a powerful love letter to these football icons. Join us in celebrating their lasting influence on both football and culture. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackFootballLegends #reclaiminingnarrative #AreWeAllowedToJustDream #StephenLawrenceDay #StephenLawrence #BlackIsBeautiful #TheBeautifulGame

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lord Herman Ouseley. 🕊️ Lord Ouseley was a pioneering figure in the fight against discrimination in football. As chair of @kickitout for over 25 years, he founded the campaign “Let’s Kick Racism Out of Football” in 1993. His fearless dedication to championing underrepresented and disadvantaged communities will be profoundly missed. Lord Ouseley’s decision to establish Kick It Out marked a pivotal shift in football, confronting a long-standing issue that had plagued the sport for decades. Thanks to his relentless drive and passion for change, fans and participants alike are now more informed and empowered to challenge discrimination. His legacy is one of immense impact, and we are forever grateful for his contribution. We commit to honouring and advancing his work for the benefit of future generations. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. #restinpeace #kickitout #antiracism #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #lordhermanouseley #stephenlawrence #stephenlawrenceday
