From yoghurt pot to luxury yacht – Alba is sailing the seas in style 🛥

An important initiative for Optima is on the interior fit-out of both cockpit and cabin areas, with a strong focus on sustainability. We’ve reimagined traditional solutions in favour of lighter, eco-conscious alternatives, remaining committed to encompassing sustainable boating practices. The use of recycled foam cores, bio resins, cork, bamboo from UK Bamboo Supplies Ltd and unique materials from Smile Plastics, not only minimises environmental impact but also maximises comfort and aesthetics. For those looking to set a new standard in eco-friendly boating, this is how to do it - in style! #electricboat #sustainability #greentech #marineindustry

This year’s Material Matters Fair, 18-21 September, investigates the ever-evolving relationship between materials, geography, people and supply chains for commercial products. Designed and curated by the sustainability team at tp bennett in collaboration with The Furniture Practice, guests will be guided through a series of zones featuring furniture, finishes and products, starting with an introduction to the amazing and ever-evolving world of raw materials, geography, people and supply chains and culminating with an interactive space for reflection.  At the heart of the room will be a central storytelling space where demonstrations, inspiration sessions and panel discussions will take place. The bar, which we will be carefully crafting using our Earth Collection materials, will be a space for exhibitors and festival goers to come together to discuss, exchange and foster new ideas over a drink.    Register for the fair here >>> https://lnkd.in/g__APcse

Last year, we repurposed the equivalent of 111 million yoghurt pots to create Alba. While we see this as a significant achievement in reimagining 'waste', it's just a fraction of the challenge we face. Providing a sustainable foundation for iconic and innovative design, our yoghurt pot material quite literally platformed designers old and new, in an event that asked thought-provoking questions with the aim of connecting attendees to designers and their processes.

At the beginning of August, we were delighted to open the doors to the Design Dialogues Exhibition 2024. The unseen second season of our interview series combined hand-sketched answers to thought-provoking questions alongside physical work from world-renowned designers. This year we had an incredible line-up, featuring the following: Karim Rashid Simone Brewster norman teague Arielle Assouline-Lichten Mike & Maaike Luca Nichetto Benjamin Hubert David Caon Panter&Tourron ionna vautrin Nothing The exhibition connected our community to the designers, their minds and their projects. Visitors could engage interactively by answering the same questions, with responses displayed along the exhibition wall, creating a dynamic mural, fostering community and dialogue. Like a shooting star, our Cosmos material, with its intergalactic combination of expansive monochrome and explosive bursts of brilliant colour, burnt bright on its first orbit. But as with all our ranges, the ‘waste’ plastic packaging mix from which it was originally created has evolved – and so too has our product offering, its design flexing in response to raw material supply. Cosmos reimagined is a visual masterpiece, with bold splatters and splashes that reflect its dynamic creation process. Available in 5mm, 12mm, and 20mm thicknesses, and as a supersized 3000 × 1200mm panel, it offers endless creative possibilities. Order your Cosmos sample >>> https://lnkd.in/gPenmRri
