Earlier this week, a second group of Snowdrop clients visited Amerron Acres in Edale for an equine therapy session! Our clients absolutely loved the beautiful and peaceful location 🌳 Each individual was able to spend time with the horses, building connections and boosting their wellbeing. A big thank you to Amerron Acres for very kindly facilitating these sessions! They have been invaluable for those we work with.

Yesterday, the Snowdrop team were out of the office at one of our twice-yearly Away Days! It was lovely to spend time together as a team 🥰 As part of the Away Day, each staff member chose a photo which they felt represented their strengths and what they bring to the wider Snowdrop team. We think they make a beautiful collage together! We're back in the office today, ready to support our clients and keep working towards a future free from modern slavery 💙

Last month, some of Snowdrop's clients attended a self-defence class at Excel Martial Arts! Becky, Snowdrop's Community Development Manager, said: "Our clients loved this class. One of the clients who attended is usually really guarded and has never attended an activity before, but she got really involved and was smiling throughout. It was a big step for her to come along, and it has really boosted her confidence. Another client had previously signed up for self-defence classes, but had never found the confidence to step through the doors. She managed to this time, and was made to feel really comfortable by the instructors. It may seem like a small thing, but this is a massive step. All our clients loved the session, and have gone away with more confidence." A big thank you to Excel for facilitating the session!

Fantastic to be part of the IMSA model development alongside Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance and the British Red Cross, and great to see the project moving forwards 👏
Hope for Justice, British Red Cross and The Snowdrop Project are preparing to pilot the Independent Modern Slavery Advocate® (IMSA) model across the UK. The aim of the IMSA model is to ensure that all survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking have access to a trained independent advocate. At the link, we share recent updates about the project, including the development of a new IMSA qualification, the role of our first co-opted board member, SOHTIS, and welcoming Bethan Hunt, IMSA Model Development Manager, who is taking forward this next phase as the partners build the infrastructure to enable delivery of the multi-year pilot. As part of this, IMSAs would be hosted at a range of organisations across the UK and the model would be rigorously tested in a range of settings, all in preparation for a national roll-out. Find out more at the link.

A group of Snowdrop clients who have been attending our weekly sewing class have been putting their new skills into action with these amazing cushion designs! 🧵 It's been amazing to see the designs they've made and the skills they've picked up, in addition to the connections made and friendships formed. One more group of clients will complete the sewing course before the end of the year, and we can't wait to see what they make!

In exactly one month, Snowdrop will be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge! The Big Give is a match funding campaign where, for one week only, all donations will be doubled! This means that any amount you give will have double the impact. This Christmas, we're aiming to raise £5000 for survivors of modern slavery and their families, giving them the chance to recover from their pasts and rebuild their futures. Find out more about The Big Give 2024, and how your doubled donation can make a difference, here: https://buff.ly/3AkgBd1
