Earlier this week, the SCIE team came together for our monthly face to face all-staff meeting. We are a remote organisation, and these meetings offer an excellent opportunity for our full staff team to connect with each other, and SCIE's work, reflect on our achievements, and explore new ways to collaborate and innovate in social care through the diverse range of skills and knowledge in the room. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed their expertise and passion. Your energy, ideas, and dedication to our shared values—progressiveness, inclusivity, credibility, transparency, and commitment—continue to drive SCIE forward. We’re excited to take the learnings from this meeting and translate them into actions that bring us closer to our vision: a society which enables people who draw on social care to live fulfilling lives. #TeamSCIE #SocialCare #Innovation #Collaboration #CoProduction

The Review into the Operational Effectiveness of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) highlights important areas for improvement, both within the CQC and across the wider social care sector—including the critical need to bridge gaps in policy around improvement, innovation, commissioning, and patient safety. SCIE stands ready to help scale efforts and provide comprehensive resources to support providers, commissioners, and policymakers in improving care access and quality. We look forward to working with Dr Dash as part of her further two reviews on patient safety and quality. The State of the Adult Social Care Sector and Workforce in England Report by Skills for Care lays bare the scale of the workforce challenge facing the social care sector, now and in the future, and adds urgency to the calls for workforce reforms. SCIE urges the Government to take bold, decisive action to tackle the workforce’s short-term and long-term needs. This includes addressing low pay, which remains a significant issue, as well as improved employment contracts, better working conditions, career development, and training opportunities. On 3 October, SCIE attended Social Finance's launch event for the Dementia and Older People with Other Needs Report in London📑 The Report, published in partnership with The Dunhill Medical Trust and Alzheimer's Society, calls on funders, commissioners, and service providers to invest in flexible and personalised care models, promote equity in care, leverage existing resources, and support carers. The event was a fantastic opportunity to hear insights and findings from projects that were part of the 15-month Test and Learn Programme, as well as the ‘Routes to Scale’ Framework developed by Social Finance. SCIE is proud to be apart of Social Finance’s Learning Community, which provides an excellent opportunity for us and over 50 other organisations to share insights and learning from our work to drive impactful change in social care📊
