Social Security Scotland
Government Administration
We are the executive agency responsible for the delivery of devolved social security benefits in Scotland.
About us
We are an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government. We have been set up to administer the new Scottish social security system. Our aim: Contribute to the creation of a fairer society. Our vision: Provide support to each of us when we need it. The benefits we deliver are being introduced in stages. Once fully operational, we will deliver benefits for people on low incomes, disabled people, carers, young people entering the workplace and to help people heat their homes.

UK Government plans to end universal fuel payments for older people mean the Scottish Government budget will be cut by up to £160 million. This cut has left Ministers no choice but to limit Pension Age Winter Heating Payment in Scotland. There is no change to eligibility for Winter Heating Payments for those on low incomes or to Child Winter Heating Payments. To find out more, visit https://lnkd.in/eXgDBE8N

After being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2017 Jen Hardy MBE founded Cancer Card - a charity that directs people with cancer to online help and support from a wide range of other charities and organisations. We've joined forces with Cancer Card to encourage people with cancer to apply for the financial support they may be entitled to. In a conversation with Jen, we found out how Adult Disability Payment has helped her with the extra costs she's faced since her diagnosis.

Many young people will be nervously awaiting their exam results today. Leaving school can be daunting and not everyone knows what they want to do with their future. That’s why we’ve teamed up with DYW Tay Cities (Developing the Young Workforce) to promote #NoWrongPath. We caught up with some of our current and former Modern Apprentices and will be sharing their stories throughout today. Modern Apprenticeships let people earn a wage whilst gaining an industry-recognised qualification. Hear from Hamish who works in our Health and Safety Team 🔽 #NoWrongPath #YPGuarantee DYW Scotland Skills Development Scotland

We're supporting DYW Scotland's #NoWrongPath campaign which reassures young people that exam results are not the only path to future success. Careers don't always follow a straight line. The campaign also reminds young people who have gone on to further education that they're allowed to change their minds about what they want to do. Get involved in our poll and let us know in the comments about your own career journey ⬇

It's Cycle to Work Day! We're proud to be part of the Cycle to Work scheme allowing colleagues to get a bike and safety equipment paid for by salary deductions. Last month, Team Manager Ryan Davidson cycled over 100 miles in one day: departing our Glasgow office at 7am and returning to the city via Dunoon and the Isle of Bute. Ryan joins many colleagues who have completed challenges to raise money for our corporate charity SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health). #Cycletoworkday

Many of our colleagues attended #MardiGlaPride in Glasgow on 20 July. One former colleague, Stuart, now a Senior Policy Manager for the Scottish Government, said, 'Marching in Pride is a profound act of solidarity. It's not just about words but about showing up and creating a safe space where everyone feels included.'
