I was buzzing after last week's #BrightonSummit 🐝 I mean, it's always a fantastic event - the incredible Brighton Chamber team knock it out of the park every single year 👏. But for me, something felt really special this year... it felt different; fresher, lighter, maybe a little more fun. The venue was stunning and no doubt had some impact on my whole experience. The sessions and conversations I joined this year carried a thread about the importance of nature, of reconnecting with it to look after both nature itself but also ourselves. This was my lasting feeling from the day - to jump outside of the '24/7' now and again and land in nature to relax, recharge, get perspective and appreciate it. 🌱 Big shout out to my amazing Social for Good colleague Lucy Lindley - we LOVED delivering our 24/6 workshop and are just blown away by the positive feedback and messages we've received about it (including one stunning photo of 'phone jail' Sam Knowles - Master Data Storyteller 🙌). It's really special to know that we've managed to make a positive impact on so many people. Thank you Sarah Springford and co for giving us the opportunity to be involved.

DigiFest blasts off! 🚀 Our employees had the opportunity to explore the latest trends and developments in the world of digital at Alzheimer’s Research UK’s very first DigiFest event in Cambridge on 17 and 18 October. Spanning two days, around 100 employees were treated to talks and interactive sessions led by members of our digital campaigns, web, social media and online fundraising teams. We were also joined by speakers from Twitter/X, Meta, Yonder Media, Ozone | Powering the Premium Web, Social for Good, Tale Digital Ltd, Sprout Social, Inc. and Spotify. Christian Hankins, Head of Digital, said: "I was so inspired by the passion and breadth of topics covered at our first ever DigiFest. The sessions ranged from best-in-class user experiences to truly engaging our supporters online. “We want to put digital at the heart of everything we do to make a real difference to our mission For A Cure. “We had amazing speakers, incredible energy, enthusiasm... and this is just the beginning."

You’ve probably noticed this trend all over the internet. Brands and charities have been creating fun videos where staff use popular Gen Z slang like ‘slay,’ ‘brat,’ or ‘ick.’ These videos generate millions of views, making people laugh while also building awareness and authenticity. Curious about how you can use trends while staying aligned with its mission? It’s not just about jumping on the latest viral moment — when done thoughtfully, trends can boost visibility, engage younger audiences, and humanise your charity. 👇 WWF-UK National Coal Mining Museum for England University of Leeds #GenZ #Trends #SocialForGood

This morning, we officially launched the 'Social for Good Accelerator' with an amazing group of charity social media managers. 😁 What started as an idea at the start of this year is now a reality! 💙 I wanted to create a new training course that addresses the specific challenges of social marketing and comms in the charity sector and brings like-minded professionals together to learn from each other. And over the past few months, the incredible Social for Good team have been involved in bringing it to life. I can't wait to see how this incredible cohort leverages social media to drive even more impact for the wonderful causes they represent. 🙌 -- The Social for Good Accelerator is an 8-week program, with 12 comprehensive modules, designed specifically to empower charities with the tools, strategies, and insights they need to excel in the ever-changing world of social media. 🌍 More info here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ea4wHV-e #SocialMediaTraining #SocialImpact #CharitySector #Nonprofit

Understanding how to use social media in a meaningful way is about the right mindset. And that's the starting point for all our social media training. So, if you were a fly on the wall in one of our training sessions, here are 5 key takeaways you'd walk (or fly) away with: 🏆 Write as if you're speaking to just one person, and start with what's in it for them. You only have seconds to grab their attention. 🗯️ Bring the "social" back to social media. Engage in two-way conversations by replying to comments—give people a reason to return. ✍️ Write how you talk. Read your copy out loud to keep it short, snappy, and natural. 🤹♂️ Quality beats quantity every time. It's better to manage 2 channels effectively than to spread the same content thinly across 6. 💼 Empower your team to be active on LinkedIn. Content shared by employees receives 8x more engagement and 561% more reach "The sessions increased people’s confidence (and let them know they aren’t alone in feeling it’s a big world out there on socials – but they can do it)!" - A quote from Tonina Takova 's training session with Bangor University Find out more about our training sessions here: https://bit.ly/3X5u7Zq

The average social media user wants to be entertained, connect, and pass time. For charities tackling heavy, tricky issues, translating your work and mission into the content this average user wants to see can be challenging, but it can be done! Get inspired by how other charities have balanced social-friendly content with their messaging.
