At the Kent Construction EXPO Soil Link’s Will Rundle & Jonty Brook explained the exciting roadmap for our AI bot; a tool which has been designed specifically for the UK construction industry, focusing on heavy materials like soils, aggregates, and concrete. The construction sector is nuanced, and knowledge gaps can lead to costly mistakes. Our AI bot empowers users to ask targeted questions, helping them navigate the complexities of material selection while considering environmental and legal implications. As we evolve, we plan to integrate our proprietary data and train the AI model with up-to-date regulations and insights. Looking ahead, we're aiming for a future where Soil Link AI agents can proactively identify sustainable material opportunities for our platform users, revolutionising how we approach heavy material management across construction projects. #ConstructionInnovation #AI #Sustainability #SoilLink #KentConstructionExpo

The UK's Premier AI-Powered Platform for Trading Heavy Construction Materials
About us
Soil Link has developed the UK's most advanced intelligent platform for trading heavy materials in construction. Our Materials Exchange Platform (MEP) efficiently connects those who HAVE materials with those who NEED them, leveraging machine learning and AI to optimise matches and provide market insights. By optimising artificial intelligence, we're not just facilitating trades—we're driving a radical revaluation of soils, aggregates, and other heavy materials. Our platform promotes sustainability, reduces waste, and optimises resource utilisation across the UK construction industry.

Case Study: Save 50% on costs with Soil Link This is what we do - a win for a residential developer. Despite following all of the correct procedures, obtaining an MMP, full testing suite inclusive of BS3882 compliance, the developer still faced a whopping £72,000 of disposal costs for the 6,118 tonne stockpile. Why? They and their network didn't have a need for the material. Soil Link stepped in with a sustainable solution: We connected the developer with a local scheme needing to import topsoil for new sports pitches, facilitating a direct transfer of 6,118 tonnes across 322 loads—costing just £36,000! That’s a 50% saving compared to landfill disposal. AND the Soil Link method also helped reduce CO2 emissions by 210.01 tonnes, equivalent to the emissions from 30 around-the-world flights. By facilitating the reuse of the topsoil, we eliminated unnecessary logistics and conserved a precious natural resource, preventing additional environmental impact. This case study exemplifies how strategic partnerships can drive sustainability in construction. Together, we can make a significant difference for our planet while achieving substantial cost savings. Curious to learn more? Should We Fear AI in Construction? This was a question our CTO, Jonty Brook, answered at the recent Kent Construction EXPO. He suggested that perhaps instead of fearing AI, we could embrace its potential to transform the construction industry. While manual jobs may be safe for now, the reality is that AI will change how we all work. Imagine a future where everyone, from labourers to managers, collaborates with AI as a partner. Tasks that once required significant admin effort can be streamlined, allowing us to focus on higher-level management and decision-making. This shift could empower us all to work smarter and more efficiently. How do you think AI will affect the construction industry? #AIinConstruction #FutureOfWork #Innovation

Insights from the Kent Construction EXPO: Will Rundle and Jonty Brook explored the transformative potential of AI in the construction industry. In their discussion, they talk about how we're integrating AI at the core of our Soil Link solution, fundamentally shifting our approach to material movement. Rather than merely coding algorithms, we're leveraging AI to interpret and optimise data as an expert would, considering variables like truck requirements and material weights. One standout application they highlight is the ability to upload complex reports and documents—like borehole tests—into our platform. AI can digest this information, provide summaries, and allow users to interrogate the data. This not only saves time but also enhances decision-making across projects. This is just the beginning of how AI can reshape our industry. #ConstructionInnovation #AIinConstruction #Sustainability #KentConstructionExpo #SoilLink

Can We Achieve Both Sustainability and Cost Efficiency in Construction? Absolutely! At Soil Link, we’re committed to proving this every day. Recently, our co-founder, Will Rundle, took part in an insightful panel at the Kent Construction EXPO, alongside industry leaders like Ellen Huelin from Whitecode Consulting Ltd and Dr. Rehan Khodabuccus from ZED PODS Limited. The discussion centred around the crucial role of sustainable materials and smart supply chain management in construction. One powerful example highlighted was a project where we helped a client avoid sending 6,000 tonnes of topsoil to landfill. Instead, we matched this surplus with a local site in need of that very material. The result? £36,000 saved in transportation and landfill costs and a reduction of 201 tonnes of CO2 emissions—equivalent to 30 round-the-world flights! This success story underscores how technology can facilitate efficient material reuse without added burden on clients. Despite clear benefits, some companies remain hesitant to adopt these innovative tools. The industry needs leaders willing to embrace change, rather than waiting for others to take the first step. Embracing Innovation in Technology Development In today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, it's essential to adopt an open mindset when exploring new solutions. As highlighted in this video clip featuring Ibon Iribar from Cemex Ventures, the landscape is filled with diverse options, making it easier than ever to find tools that can address your specific challenges. Tips for Adopting Tech Innovations: 🔷 Iterate and Test: Don’t shy away from testing MVPs and initial products. Even if they don’t solve all your problems, valuable insights can be gained. 🔷 Prioritise Wisely: Instead of tackling every challenge at once, identify and prioritise the most pressing issues. Focus on 4-5 key areas where innovation can make a significant impact. 🔷 Adapt and Innovate: With so many solutions available, a strategic approach can facilitate smoother adoption and integration within larger organisations.
