During recent months, Soltherm Technical Lead, Mark Gibbs has contributed to the group of industry experts nominated to steer the development of a PAS 2030/2035 approved roofline solution. We are today very pleased to announce that the proposed solution has been approved by DESNZ for use under PAS 2030/2035. This solution is critical to reducing the cost of retrofit, stabilising solid wall insulation delivery and scaling domestic decarbonisation. Without wanting to stop there, we at Soltherm have gone one step further in solution development. The announcement of [an initial] £3.4 billion to initiate and accelerate the Warm Homes Plan is obviously very welcome… The impact on fuel poverty should be significant but only if the retrofit industry can scale rapidly across all disciplines and Local Authorities can quickly skill up to more effectively manage place-based retrofit. But should investment in energy-efficient retrofit always be considered [and more often than not delivered] in isolation? The ultimate housing goal is to produce “Healthy Homes”. Decarbonisation is a beneficial bi-product but providing Healthy Homes that support occupant well-being and are affordable to run is the nation's must-have. Stable, accessible and tenure-blind funding is pivotal to providing Healthy Homes for all... but energy retrofit is only a part of ”Healthy”... Decency, Efficiency and Safety are the pillars of “Healthy” and we believe that effectively blending available funding streams will allow the industry to do more, more quickly. A common misconception is that The Warm Homes Plan will be the only game in town in coming years for Local Authorities and Social Housing Providers to refine their housing stocks, but we see things differently. We're excited to highlight the incredible INCA-nominated Watmos Walsall Regeneration Project, which has transformed the lives of over 1,500 residents in Walsall. This ambitious initiative upgraded 1,074 homes across 21 tower blocks with the Soltherm Endurance 75 system, significantly improving energy efficiency by offering an ECO funding uplift of 25% and reducing fuel poverty in one of England’s most deprived areas.
