During our 25th birthday year, we’re proud to announce: Somerset House has risen two places to become the 8th most-visited attraction in London, according to new figures from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA). In 2024, over 3 million people visited Somerset House drawn by our bold, inclusive, and ever-evolving cultural programme. As our Deputy Director Diana Spiegelberg puts it: “This achievement is a testament to the incredible creatives and dedicated teams at Somerset House. London remains a global hub for creativity, and as we celebrate our 25th year, we are excited to continue to welcome audiences to our diverse range of programming that places us at the heart of the city’s cultural scene.” We couldn’t have achieved this without the extraordinary support of our visitors, creative collaborators, and partners. Thank you for helping us grow, push boundaries, and reimagine what a cultural space can be. Step Inside, Think Outside.

Since opening, SOIL: The World at Our Feet has sparked incredible conversations and deep reflections on the power beneath our feet. We are profoundly grateful to the visionary artists, curators, researchers, and collaborators whose insights, creativity, and expertise have brought this exhibition to life. A huge thank you as well to our dedicated team, partners, and everyone behind the scenes who have worked tirelessly to make this exhibition a reality. And to our visitors—your engagement, curiosity, and conversations have been truly inspiring. We are grateful to MARS for supporting our In Focus Zones – a space, curated by The Land Gardeners, including new films by Joya Berrow, where voices of scientists and other experts, give further clarity on key concepts of what visitors see within the exhibition “We hope this exhibition will highlight the essential role of soil in climate resilience and spotlight our shared vision to promote innovative and creative solutions to one of the biggest issues of our time.” Ikdeep Singh SOIL invites us to reconsider the role of soil in the health of our planet—delivering a message of hope and urgency.
