*FMD Inspection Success, supported by Geo Oceans* Sonomatic recently completed a critical FMD (Flooded Member Detection) inspection on caissons aboard an offshore installation, focusing on the deepest accessible point at -67m. Geo Oceans supported the operation, successfully removing marine growth across approximately 180 degrees of the caisson surface, ensuring optimal access for the inspection. Using the Stingray, Sonomatic’s subsea automated scanner, the inspection data was collected with remarkable precision. The Stingray was deployed seamlessly via Geo Oceans' Falcon ROV, ensuring an efficient, platform-based operation. The inspection involved multiple channels and collection gates strategically positioned to detect responses from the internal J-Tube outer diameters, which is critical in identifying potential flooding. These gates also provided an extensive corrosion map of the caisson wall thickness, enhancing the data analysis. Our collaboration with Geo Oceans and the advanced technology deployed continue to set new benchmarks in offshore asset inspection, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. *Exciting Developments in Hydrogen Production & Corrosion Management* Hazer Group Limited (Hazer), a WA-based company has developed Methane Pyrolysis technology and has made significant strides in producing hydrogen and graphitic carbon through the thermo-catalytic decomposition of methane at elevated temperatures. This innovative process, executed in a fluidised bed reactor, has been successfully demonstrated at lab and pilot scales, and is now advancing through the Hazer Commercial Demonstration Plant (CDP). To ensure the long-term integrity of critical equipment in this high-temperature environment, Sonomatic has developed a comprehensive Corrosion Risk Assessment and undertaken extensive baseline inspections on exotic high-temperature materials. Sonomatic has developed phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and time of flight diffraction (ToFD) set-ups for the detection of complex high-temperature degradation mechanisms such as carburisation and metal dusting that may occur in the Hazer process. The Inspection Management Plan (IMP), developed by Sonomatic in conjunction with Hazer, is focused on key areas around the hot plant vessels and piping. This work, guided by operational experience from the CDP, defines inspection locations, methods, and coverage to verify equipment integrity and assess degradation. Together, Hazer and Sonomatic are pioneering advancements in hydrogen production and asset integrity, paving the way to decarbonising hard to abate sectors.
