Dougal Shaw asked to interview me for todays article the same day I had to tell our staff we were shutting down 😢 It’s some consolation that Sook still features in it in spite of my unavailability to comment. It is clear that there is a huge opportunity for more flexible engagement between landlords and occupiers. Its profitable and good for community. I’m devastated to announce the closure of Sook yesterday. In spite of the extraordinary efforts of our team, growing sales and achieving international scale we were unable to raise sufficient investment to continue in the current environment. I’m so proud of all that we achieved and incredibly sad that we cannot continue. Please support our team members as they search for new roles. They have first hand experience of disrupting the retail and real estate sectors during incredibly challenging times. Thank-you to everyone who supported us over the last five years.

Is the demand for IRL events underestimated? Tonight’s traditional Colombia Road carols in London have been canceled due to a sudden surge in attendees at last week’s event following viral TikTok videos. The event usually attracts a few hundred people for a singalong around the local churches’ piano and the street’s independent stores stay open for late night shopping. However, last week around ten times the usual number of people attended which has led to the event’s cancellation over safety fears. The NHS are raising awareness about their mission to save and improve lives through blood donations in Sook, Birmingham this week. The five day activation gives visitors the chance to find out their blood type, register to donate and learn about all forms of donation including platelets, plasma and organ.
