👋🏾 Leaving Twitter / X 👋🏿 ⚠️ As an organisation that supports migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees, we work towards a vision of a world where everyone is welcomed, valued and treated with compassion and respect. We cannot continue to engage on a platform that has become increasingly hostile to our community. 🚨 It has become evident that Twitter (X) is no longer a safe or supportive space. Despite numerous reports and concerns raised about the spread of hate speech, racism and disinformation, the platform has failed to take adequate action. The changes to its policies and content moderation have only amplified harmful and divisive voices, creating an environment where discrimination and hostility thrive. 🫱🏾🫲🏿 At SLRA, our values of Kindness, Agency, Inclusion, and Respect guide everything we do. We believe in fostering a culture of belonging, celebrating difference, and advocating fiercely for the rights of those in our community. We cannot remain on a platform that undermines these values. 🌟 We understand the power and importance of social media in connecting with our community, supporters and allies. Moving forward, we will continue to share our updates here on LinkedIn and on our Instagram page (https://lnkd.in/eeziSXhn) 🙏🏾 Thank you for following and supporting our work 🙏🏾 #leavingtwitter #exitracismonx

Today we join over 240 organisations to stand in strong solidarity against recent racist, Islamophobic and anti-migrant acts of violence. No one should feel unsafe in their community. The government's response must protect at-risk communities as well as address the root causes of racism, islamophobia and xenophobia. The scapegoating and political exploitation of migrants must end. The SLRA community will continue to work together for a better and safer world for everyone. #togetherwithrefugees
