About us
Southall Sage is a specialist, streamlined recruitment company focussed on sourcing talent across several inter-connected industrial markets. We are proud of a reliable, efficient and precise approach – for candidates and hiring companies alike. Tailoring work around clients’ needs is paramount, as they are so diffuse, and ever-changing. The business was founded on the desire to provide a refined recruitment offering, stripping away unwanted components in order to deliver an effective, streamlined service. Oliver wanted to create a brand which concentrated on a relatively small number of very active clients in the Industrial sector, but delivered exceptional results. We are confident and proven in our ability to complete many different types of recruitment assignment, from senior executive searches to volume hiring at the mid-level, and even market-mapping projects.

"Across most applications, simply switching from plastics to currently available nonplastic alternatives is not a viable solution for reducing GHG emissions". Recent research from The University of Sheffield suggests replacing plastics with alternative materials is likely to produce increased Greenhouse Gas (#GHG) emissions. In 15/16 applications across #packaging, #construction, #automotive, #textiles and #consumer durables, a plastic product incurs fewer GHG emissions than their alternatives. It discusses how when formulating interventions to reduce plastic waste, policymakers must take care not to inadvertently drive higher GHG emissions. “Not all alternative or recycled products are better for the environment than the products they replace. Environmental policymaking needs life cycle assessment guided decision-making to make sure that GHG emissions are not unintentionally increased through a shift to more emission-intensive alternative materials. Demand reduction, efficiency optimisation, lifetime extension and reuse/recycling are win–win strategies to reduce emissions effectively. Solely focusing on switching to alternative materials is not.” - Dr. Fanran Meng - Assistant Professor in Sustainable Chemical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. #plastics #sustainability #circulareconomy #chemicals #pollution #polymers

Aldi UK show their commitment to tackling the issue of plastic waste, using an AI evidence tool developed by Greenback Recycling Technologies to track and certify flexible plastic waste collected and recycled. The journey of the flexible plastics begins at the collection points outside stores, and is tracked and verified using the eco2Veritas™ platform. This will allow stakeholders to see collection and sorting volumes, as well as reprocessing and end-use data. Aldi will receive funding from the Ecosurety Flexible Plastic Fund based on the certified performance of the recycling process. The Flexible Plastic Fund was established in 2021 by five founding partners (Mars, Mondelēz International, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Unilever) which has now grown to at least 20, and aims to improve the - particularly challenging - recycling of flexible plastic packaging in the UK. Great to see tangible solutions being developed to enable better transparency and accountability in the recycling process, and hopefully improve consumer engagement. #recycling #packaging #sustainability #plastics #circulareconomy #circularity #greentech #flexiblepackaging
