📢 Employee Update at Spaceflux! We are happy to welcome Robert Simpson as our new Head of Product! 🚀 An #astronomer at heart, his PhD was in star formation at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd. He then spent 5 years working on the Zooniverse, entering the world of apps, products, and design.   He spent the past decade at Google where he gained transferrable skills working on products like Search, Wearables and Play. “I'm excited to apply my experience with building products - and teams - to the problems of the new space era. I get to join Spaceflux at an exciting moment as it scales from scrappy startup to a young company helping customers navigate launch and orbit.”   As Head of Product, Robert will be shaping what we build and how we build it: understanding #customer needs and guiding the #team to build the products and features required. He will work across Spaceflux's entire #product #development lifecycle with a particular focus on the next generation Cortex platform and our Track & Guard offering.   Join us in welcoming Robert to the Spaceflux team!

🚨 Intelsat IS-33e Breakup Update 🚨   Following our initial #report on the Intelsat IS-33e breakup, our Spaceflux Ops team, alongside Spaceflux Labs, has been hard at work tracking about 40 fragments from the event. Whilst we continue build the full picture of the event and routinely #monitor all regions of the #GEO belt for fragments, we’re refining #orbit #data to help our customers stay ahead of potential #hazards and protect their critical #space assets.   With our in-house Faint Object Detection tools, we detected multiple #fragments and UCTs (uncorrelated tracks) during this observation session in this clip from our Spaceflux Cyprus sensor last night at 21-10-2024 17:43 (UTC).   As the first commercial company to publicly announce this unfortunate breakup, we continue to lead in monitoring its aftermath. Our team is reviewing past tracking data to investigate possible causes.   Stay tuned for further updates!

🚨 Spaceflux Tracking Alert: breakup of Intelsat IS-33e 🚨   On October 19th, 2024, at 0430 UTC, the geostationary communications satellite Intelsat IS-33e, owned by Intelsat, experienced a significant breakup event over the Indian Ocean at 60.1°E. The United States Space Force has reported tracking 20 debris objects from the incident, which are yet to be cataloged.   Our sensor in Cyprus captured the event a few hours after the breakup. The attached image shows multiple fragments, with visual magnitude ranging from 13.9 to 19.2.   We have continued to track and monitor the aftermath of this event and the resulting debris cloud. Spaceflux global sensor network is providing real-time data to assess the potential risks to nearby satellites.   We are working closely with the UK Space Command and UK Space Agency to protect the assets of our customers and partners and ensure the continued safety of vital space infrastructure.   Stay tuned for further updates! #SSA #SDA #spacesurveillance UK Space Command UK Space Agency

🔭 Capturing the Beauty of Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) from Australia! 🌠 At Spaceflux, our roots in #astronomy continue to shape our approach to space situational awareness and orbital safety. On September 27, 2024, at 19:15 UT, we captured this stunning image of #comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS), 134 million km from Earth, using our 35-cm telescope based in Australia. While this comet poses no immediate threat, it represents the celestial wonders that make our work as important as it is exciting. Our longstanding collaboration with Telescope Live Ltd allows us to produce precise astronomical observations, contributing not only to space situational awareness but also to planetary #defense by tracking potentially hazardous objects. Observation Details 📅 Date & Time: Sept. 27, 2024, 19:15 UT  📍 Location: Spaceflux Telescope, Australia  📊 Exposure: 12x30-second capture, comet positioned +8 degrees on the horizon. This observation reminds us that natural objects like comets can intersect with vital orbital regions. By tracking them, we help ensure a safer space environment for #satellites, commercial operations, and beyond. Feel free to reach out to learn how Spaceflux’s expertise in both space safety and planetary observation can help you secure your space assets. #SSA
