NatWest Group partners with Sparta Global to secure technology talent from diverse backgrounds and support the continued growth of its One Bank Mortgages (OBM) platform. This video follows some of the 12 Spartans specialising in Software Engineering, Test Automation, and DevOps who were selected to join NatWest’s OBM team. Those joining were made up of women, those first in their families to go to university, and individuals from minority backgrounds. These consultants secured the opportunity on attitude, aptitude and potential alone – not prior technology experience or educational background. Since joining the team, they have converted to full-time employees at NatWest to continue their personal and professional growth – with two selected for the future leaders programme. Our CEO, David Rai, says; “Successfully hiring today’s generation of early career talent requires an understanding of their attributes, an empathy for their diverse values, and a management style that engages their interests and preferences. NatWest and the OBM team understand this ethos and together have created an exceptional environment for emerging talent to thrive and contribute to future organisational success”. 🔉 If you're interested in discussing your emerging talent needs, contact us at contactus@spartaglobal.com Watch the full video here | https://lnkd.in/esmDc94x

The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) report, published today, says employment skills should be developed alongside knowledge acquisition and that providing sustained skills development from early childhood is key to meeting future workforce needs, which will change due to technological advances and demographic and environmental differences. ✨ Future skills must be a focus at grassroots level ✨ Teaching people how to learn is just as important as what they learn ✨ Promote continuous learning from day dot - constant reskilling and upskilling will be the reality for the next generation of business leaders Can traditional education really keep pace with the pace of change of today's modern working world? This is why at Sparta Global we focussed on giving emerging technology and business talent the skills to succeed and become future leaders; practical training across in-demand specialisms, lab and learn opportunities to build confidence in picking up new skills and self study, bespoke continuous learning pathways, and a network of industry professionals and fellow learners. Empowering the next generation of technology leaders together 💪🏽 It was great to host another Girls Into Coding event yesterday at our London offices - giving young girls an opportunity to explore tech and engineering with no bounds!
💥What an uplifting day yesterday! We’re so proud of our Girls Into Coding community! 🙌🏾 The energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity they brought to the event were truly inspiring. From hands-on activities in tech, engineering, robotics, and coding, it was a day filled with discovery, creativity, and learning! 💻🤖⚙️ A huge shoutout to our amazing guest speaker 🎤 Zainab Adigun, who shared her insights on The Power of Mentoring. Her talk sparked so much curiosity, excitement, and thoughtful questions from the girls during the Q&A. 🌟 None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our mentors, volunteers, parents, and of course, the girls themselves. 💕 A big thank you to everyone who made this event so special—and to Sparta Global for hosting us and being part of this journey. Together, we’re empowering the next generation of innovators! 🚀✨ #tech #engineering #coding ##WomenInTech #WomenInEngineering #STEM

Gender equality in science, technology and engineering is 👉 crucial 👈 for building a better future for all, yet women and girls continue to face systemic barriers and biases in pursuing scientific careers. This #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience, let's remind ourselves of some of the most inspiring women from this space: 🌼 Marie Curie The first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only person to have won in two different scientific fields (physics and chemistry). She was recognised for her research and work on radioactivity in the early 1900s, and also worked as head of the physics lab at the Sorbonne. 💻 Ada Lovelace Ada was recognised as the first computer programmer for her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytics Engine. Although this computer never actually came to fruition, Ada was the first to discover that a computer program could follow a simple series of instructions to complete a complex calculation - coding. 🧬 Rosalind Franklin Born in 1920, Rosalind Franklin was best known for her groundbreaking discovery of DNA and RNA, as well as her extensive research on different viruses, coal, and graphite. Without her work, we wouldn't understand molecular structure and many other scientific concepts that we rely on so heavily today. 💉 Tu Youyou Tu Youyou, Chinese scientist and phytochemist, is best known for her discovery of artemisinin and dihydroartemisinin, both of which have been used for the successful treatment of malaria. Her work and discoveries have undoubtedly saved millions of lives, and she was even awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in physiology/medicine in 2015. 🎥 Hedy Lemarr Not only was Austrian-born Hedy Lemarr an American film star, but she also co-invented an early version of frequency-hopping spread spectrum communication that was crucial during World War II. That method of communication built the foundation for such groundbreaking technologies as Bluetooth, GPS, and even Wi-Fi. 🍃 Wangari Maathai For her contributions to sustainable development, democracy, and peace, Wangari Maathai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004. This made her the first Black African woman to win a Nobel Prize. Her Green Belt Movement is estimated to have led to the planting of around 30 million trees worldwide. 👏 Gitanjali Rao In 2020, Gitanjali Rao was named Time’s first-ever ‘Kid of the Year’ for her innovations and work in STEM. As a young inventor, author, and scientist, Rao is perhaps best known for her water lead-level measuring device. However, she has also developed a diagnostic tool that can be used to diagnose prescription opioid addiction, and an AI app that can detect cyberbullying. ---- 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS) and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, two significant milestones in the global effort to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.

We're pleased to announce that our Advisory Board is growing, with the addition of Mark Jolley - a highly motivated and delivery focused technology leader within the Financial Services sector. Mark joins us to support strategic transformation projects across organisations in Capital Markets, Commodities, Asset Management, and Corporate Banking. Mark Jolley says; “I am very excited to be a part of this growing organisation and to use my strategic experience to enhance the work Sparta Global is already doing across skills and capability development in the financial services space. I have always advocated for the hire, train, deploy model within this industry and I am particularly empowered by how it affords under-represented individuals with an opportunity to better themselves through education. Sparta Global provides a solid, inclusive, and safe platform for these people to excel and contribute to business change.” We are excited to work with Mark to steer Sparta Global toward new growth opportunities and ensuring our services meet the needs of innovative Financial Services partners. In the third quarter of 2024, 946,000 young people in the UK were not in education, employment, or training (NEET). What if we could unlock the potential of this untapped talent pool, equipping them with the digital skills needed to drive innovation and strengthen public sector capabilities? This was the topic of conversation when we brought together representatives from UK Home Office, BT Group, Ministry of Justice UK, Rail Delivery Group and Department for Business and Trade for our roundtable discussion at The Great Scotland Yard hotel yesterday evening; how does the public sector tap into digital skills and make a lasting social impact? Some of our favourite insights ⬇️ 👉🏻 "If you're a change junkie, being a civil servant in technology right now is the place to be!" There was a general consensus amongst government departments that the new administration seems more determined to make changes, see them through, check in on targets, and gather feedback for ongoing digital success. 👉🏻 "We all face the political challenges of save money or add headcount. Whilst cost savings must be considered, there has to flex in how we utilise our people budgets and the long-term implications of hiring permanently vs contracting." Breaking the norm of contractor reliance requires work, but people managers in the public sector want to explore the development of a more permanent workforce. There must be greater persistence from departments to onboard alternative providers. 👉🏻 "We want to do more than fill jobs and populate project teams, we want to hire people who can build careers with longevity and thrive. This is why we must consistently evolve and educate ourselves to be inclusive for all groups of under-represented people with potential." There is a definite commitment from department leaders to make a greater social impact, and to particularly target those in the NEET bracket. The conversation between our roundtable attendees was around how to collaborate and make genuine change. 👉🏻 "Retention improves because of loyalty and how an individual feels they have been treated and their values have been appreciated. Younger generations want to work for purpose-driven organisations, in the public and private sectors." To approach a new generation of future leaders within the civil service, government departments must be value driven and support diverse communities, their progression, and different perspectives. 👉🏻 "I love how the emerging talent we bring in are hungry to succeed. They are rattling through the levels and we need to give them the opportunities to progress, not hire in above them or fill project teams without giving them a chance." Young people are being unfairly tarnished. Those in the NEET bracket are not lazy - they lack opportunity and for people to exceed their personal expectations, they must have a chance to succeed. This is one of the most impactful and longlasting ways with can positively affect societal change.
