NatWest Group partners with Sparta Global to secure technology talent from diverse backgrounds and support the continued growth of its One Bank Mortgages (OBM) platform. This video follows some of the 12 Spartans specialising in Software Engineering, Test Automation, and DevOps who were selected to join NatWest’s OBM team. Those joining were made up of women, those first in their families to go to university, and individuals from minority backgrounds. These consultants secured the opportunity on attitude, aptitude and potential alone – not prior technology experience or educational background. Since joining the team, they have converted to full-time employees at NatWest to continue their personal and professional growth – with two selected for the future leaders programme. At the same time a significant digital skills shortage is posing a critical threat to the nation’s economic stability and growth, with a potential cost of £27.6 billion to the UK economy by 2030.
