Thinking of painting your rendered facade? You might want to think again. We’ve had many clients ask us for quotes to paint their property with modern render, believing that a fresh coat is the answer. But after inspecting their facade, we often find that the render simply needs cleaning - not painting. Why is this a common misconception? Many people believe that dull, dirty render needs to be painted over. But painting is often a short-term fix. The paint can start to flake off, revealing the stained render underneath, leaving you with more work in the long run as you'll need to remove the paint before cleaning. Here’s why cleaning modern render is better: • It's cheaper • It's quicker than painting • Far longer-lasting results • Render is often coloured all the way through, so cleaning off stains reveals its original colour. We specialise in restoring the appearance of modern render without unnecessary services or extra costs. We don’t think anyone is wrong for considering painting; it’s just a matter of being misinformed. If you’re considering giving your property a facelift, let’s talk about how we can help bring it back to life without needing paint.

One of the reasons this client chose us was because of our access skills. Our in-house MEWP and rope access experience meant that we could provide a range of property maintenance services quickly and efficiently in a single visit. At this development in central London with several blocks, our versatile abseil team carried out: • Timber repairs & replacements • Facade maintenance • Redecoration and minor repairs throughout • Facade landscaping via abseil With no need for scaffolding, we moved swiftly around the site using rope access, reducing disruption and costs. By handling everything in-house, we gave our client the benefit of a streamlined process, fewer contractors to manage, and the assurance that all tasks were completed to the highest standards. This site came with its fair share of challenges. It wasn’t straightforward, but it was a testament to our commitment to do whatever it takes to ensure client satisfaction. We also showed our flexibility in working closely with the client to achieve what’s best for the building. If you’re looking for a maintenance partner who can efficiently handle multiple aspects of your project, get in touch today.

Restoring the Grade II listed Lamb Pub in Preston was a rewarding project for us at Spectrum. The historic facade hadn’t been maintained for over 20 years, causing significant damage due to moisture trapped by the old non-breathable render. Our team carefully removed the sand and cement render by hand, preserving the original brickwork. We then applied a breathable 'Keim Restauro' render to protect the building's structure and heritage. By handling every aspect in-house, from stone repairs to window restoration, we avoided involving external contractors or scaffolding, completing the job efficiently and cost-effectively. Manage a heritage property? Let’s connect to discuss how we can help.

Rope Access Vs Scaffolding - which do you choose? When it comes to working at height, choosing between scaffolding and rope access can make all the difference. While scaffolding has had a long history, rope access is a faster, safer, and more cost-effective option for most high-rise projects. At Spectrum, we favour rope access because it offers minimal disruption for residents, lowers costs for clients and has unmatched flexibility, all while keeping safety a top priority. Want to learn more about which method is right for your project? Let’s talk! Get in touch with the team at 020 3551 6206 and we would be more than happy to discuss alternative access methods for your property.

Is your height safety equipment up to date and compliant? If you're not sure, it's definitely time for an inspection. Regularly inspecting and certifying eyebolts and working-at-height systems isn’t just a legal requirement - it’s essential for maintaining a safe working environment. Out-of-date certifications can put your team at risk and lead to expensive fines. Make sure your equipment meets all safety regulations and stays compliant with LOLER and other industry standards, to protect your staff and your property. At this property in Fitzrovia, our experienced team carried out a thorough pre-site assessment, accessing the roof safely via temporary rope access to inspect, test, and certify the abseil rail system. The project was completed over the weekend to avoid disrupting office work, with all safety standards met. Spectrum’s expertise allowed us to handle the entire project efficiently, reducing costs and ensuring full compliance. Contact us today at 020 3551 6206 or info@spectrumss.co.uk for more information on how to stay legally compliant.

When an emergency strikes, who do you call for urgent property maintenance? Whether it's shattered balcony glass, roof damage, or any other issue affecting resident safety, these situations can throw surveyors' schedules into chaos and need a rapid response. That’s where we step in. Our emergency reactive services are available within 24 hours of your call - sometimes even sooner. Like at this South London property, high winds shattered the glass on a balcony, leaving it unsafe for use and creating a serious risk of falling debris. We had a team on-site within hours, quickly making the area safe. Using our in-house cherry picker, we accessed the third-floor balcony and secured the area by boarding it up and wrapping the damaged glass to eliminate any risk to residents or passers-by. Once the replacement glass was ready, we returned and expertly removed the broken pane and installed the replacement. Our skilled team and wide-ranging access methods make us the ideal partner for emergency services like this, keeping properties safe and secure when it matters most.

This site had ‘impossible’ access issues... Until Spectrum arrived. In Islington, this newly built high-rise posed unique challenges for external cleaning due to its design features. With deep alcoves and tricky angles, even with two self-drive 27-metre van-mounted MEWPs and a 31-metre spider MEWP, we couldn't reach all the windows and cladding. But at Spectrum, we thrive on challenges like this. 💪 While the interiors were being finished off, we were tasked with the final ‘sparkle’ clean to prepare the property for its new tenants. Where other contractors might have struggled, our team’s expertise in pole cleaning came through. From the safety of the MEWP platforms, we were able to clean even the most hard-to-reach areas. The result? A pristine building ready for handover, completed safely and on schedule - with no corner left untouched.

Find the leak before it's too late! 💧 Hidden leaks can be a property manager’s worst nightmare. If left untreated, they can cause serious damage, leading to costly repairs and disruption for residents. We use non-invasive methods to pinpoint the exact location of leaks, without the need to tear down walls or rip up floors.
