About us

We care for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have incurable illnesses. Our aim is always to control their symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge. Each year St Luke's helps 1,800 patients and their families and carers - more than 6,000 people in total. We depend entirely on the generosity of our many supporters - this year we need to raise more than £7.5 million of the £11.5 million total income it costs just to carry on doing what we do.

Updates

  • Thank you to the team at Sheffield company Amrita Nutrition who have supported our patient care with a special £2,000 donation.❤️ Staff at the nutritional supplement supplier were asked to select their favourite good causes, which would each receive a donation from the company’s profits for the year. And St Luke’s was among the nine organisations to receive a £2,000 share of the cash. “We understand how crucial community contributions are to St Luke’s so they can continue to provide quality palliative care. “We are deeply grateful for the support they provided to one of our colleagues and their family during a difficult time.” Our Fundraising Manager Matthew Sheridan added: “It was a real pleasure to meet the team at Amrita Nutrition - the company has a great ethos and it’s clear that they truly value the work that St Luke’s does in the community, with colleagues having seen first-hand the impact St Luke’s has on the lives of so many Sheffield people. “I look forward to working with the team at Amrita Nutrition moving forward and really appreciate their most generous donation.” #ThankYouThursday #CorporateGiving

  • We're delighted to announce that St Luke’s has been shortlisted for not one but TWO awards in the Sheffield Business Awards 2024.🏆 Firstly, we have been shortlisted for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Champion Award. This award recognises initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of an organisation. At St Luke's, we seek to care equally for all we encounter and strive to make our employment, services, volunteering, and events barrier-free, with attitudes free from prejudice. We're over the moon to be shortlisted and to see our EDI work recognised. We've also been shortlisted for the Brand Campaign of the Year category, for the Moor store launch campaign! The award entry celebrated the work involved in curating the brand’s unique look and feel – flowing from the shop interior, through to bags/tags, social grid, fashion photoshoot and billboard campaigns! The winners of both awards will be announced at the Sheffield Business Awards 2024 on Thursday 17 October – we’ll be sure to let you know if we win! #SBA2024 Sheffield Chamber of Commerce

  • This #ThankYouThursday we're saying 'bonjour' to cycling friends Will Gaunt and Peter Lindley as they reach the end of a £5,000 fundraising challenge in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower!🗼 The pair set off on their epic bike ride in support of our patient care on Bastille Day, July 14. Will, who is 26 and lives in High Green, and 25-year-old Peter, of Burncross, are experienced St Luke’s fundraisers – their first bike ride, back in 2021 raised more than £5,000, taking them from Sheffield to Cornwall in memory of Will’s grandad Ken Gaunt, and Jack’s aunt Susan Birds, both of whom were patients. This year’s 500-mile challenge took seven days to complete, setting off from Sheffield and passing through Leicester, Luton and Rochester, through the Channel Tunnel with Eurostar and then from Calais to Amiens, Mours and on to Paris. And by the time they arrived in the French capital, the pair had raised an incredible £5,000 for our patients and families. “Everything went according to plan, we didn’t have any major obstacles and even through Google Maps did send us the wrong way a couple of times, we completed the challenge on schedule and didn’t even have any punctures,” said Will. “The weather was okay through the English leg of the route but once we got over to France it was very warm and there was one day when we did 82 miles that felt like the hardest ride we have ever done. “We really pleased with all the money we’ve raised – we originally thought a realistic target would be £2,000 but the figure just kept going up and up – we couldn’t believe it. “All expenses have been covered by ourselves so every penny made is going straight to St Luke’s. “It was well worth the effort and it was a great experience to look back on when we’re older.” If you would like to support Will and Peter, there's still time!
