About us
St Margaret’s Hospice Care is a registered charity which has been at the heart of Somerset’s community, making each day count for over 40 years. We strive to delivery of high quality, responsive, compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. Through our medical expertise, nursing skills and specialist support services, we provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to over 5,000 patients and their families each year. We put our patients at the heart of all we do; treating symptoms, controlling pain and caring for their emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. We support the whole family through a wide range of services such as intensive care in our In-patient Units, care at home, complimentary therapies and bereavement support for those who need it. We also support a wide range of support to carers, young and old. We provide care and support for families and friends for as long as they need us. We rely on over 1,200 volunteers to help deliver our care. Hospices are normally associated with cancer. We care for anyone with a life-limiting illness including motor-neurone disease, cardiac failure, renal failure, chronic respiratory disease and other life-limiting conditions. We provide our services for free. St Margaret’s is a charity – we are not part of the NHS. Our income comes from the NHS and charitable sources from our local community. It costs over £7.5m each year to deliver our care. We are dependent upon the generosity of our Somerset community.

You will work cross county, primarily in the west of Somerset, to deliver responsive care to patients with life limiting conditions. 🌟 Shoutout to HOST 2 Ltd, Hinkley Point C 🌟 Thank you to HOST Hinkley for inviting myself and our CEO, James Rimmer, to the opening of their incredible 24-hour Move-A-Thon, starting at 6pm last night and finishing this evening at 6pm, raising funds for St Margaret's Hospice Care. It was the start of an energetic event, showcasing the power of community and the determination to make a difference. 💪 Our CEO, James, kicked off the event by hitting the treadmill alongside the first runner, and it’s fantastic to see the hospice mission come to life through such engaging initiatives. 🛍️ Celebrating 30 Years! 🎉 This year, our shops in Burnham-on-Sea, Castle Cary, and Chard are celebrating their 30th anniversaries! Since opening their doors in 1994, they've welcomed thousands of customers, volunteers, and donors, all while bringing a unique flair to high streets across Somerset. Long-time volunteer Pearl, who's been with the Burnham-on-Sea shop since day one, shares: "Over 30 years, I've seen so much change, but the sense of community has always stayed the same.
